the jugglers mentality; an approach to magic

Postby Larry » May 5th, '06, 12:44

being a magician and a juggler i like to try and cross over the 2 hobbies whenever possible (but the using a finger flasher to light fire staffs didn't work, shame).
it started off basically with producing whatever juggling prop i was using as if from nowhere, and randomly producing balls of fire in my hands during fire spinning routines.

now, the jugglers mentality (that of us poi spinners mainly) goes like this: once you've learn to do a new trick/move you then learn to isolate it, and do it in reverse.
i was curious how much this could be applied to magic.
so i started simply, with a charlier cut. so i learnt to do it in reverse, simple enough. then to isolate it, which is basically keeping one packet stationary and moving your hand and the other packet round it to complete the cut, not so easy.

anyone else try things like this? a reverse snap change perhaps?

[go try isolating a one handed fan, just keep the top card exactly where it is and let the fan come out to the side under it]
