The MONSTER BERTHA - ANY INFO WILL BE GREAT

Postby Citrus » Apr 30th, '06, 14:33

Hi can anyone give me a review on the MONSTER BERTHA which can be founds at : http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk/mark ... cts_id=122

Also does anyone know the size of its magnetic field and if the field is beiger than the M5.

Thanks to all who reply.

Regards

No one is answering, so I'll give some indications ;)

The field operates perpendicular to the wide faces (2 x 2"x2") and has approximately 4500 gauss at the surface.

It will hold a 2p through a thickness of 4 decks of cards, and will pull a penny across a table from 10cm away.

Placed beneath a 1" thick oak table, it will cause a 2p to stand in it's edge whilst holding the magnet 2" below the underside of the table.

A small 1/2" neo rectangle can be held flat in the palm and influenced by the magnet from almost 10" below (i.e. a small magnet flips up and down on your hand!)

A pen with a ball bearing style magnet in the lid can be caused to drop off a table from almost a foot away.

A paperclip will stand bolt-upright on your palm with the magnet 6 inches below your hand.

A watch can be stopped WHILE IT IS ON THE WRIST OF THE SPECTATOR by holding the magnet PALM SIDE (i.e. the watch is halted THROUGH the spectator's wrist!)

A banknote with a wafer-thin magnet waxed to it and then scrupled in a ball will dance around a tabletop with the magnet below.

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Sounds fantastic!

Are there instruction on how to "strap it on" included? What extra things would I need to use it?

That's all the questions for now, but it 's looking like I might have to get it

The monster SEEMS expensive, but you get:
1. The Monster (2"x2"x1" Grade N42 Nickel plated Neo— 1/2 inch thicker than the M5!)
2. 10 magnets! Yes! 10 magnets, ranging from 1mm x 1mm cubes to a 1"square flat one! Even some 'tube' magnets for gaffing pencils and pens)
3. A TT, + instructions to gaff it
4. Shimming materials, including 2" of shim sheet and small metal rods
5. A lump of plasticine (more info in the Get Fluxed: Size Matters)
6. A shimmed match IN A SPECIALLY GAFFED MATCHBOX!!!
7. A gaffed Sharpie (with an N42 pre-installed!)
8. Get Fluxed: Size Matters—a 10 page booklet, with 5 tricks and a bunch of information on how to shim, gaff and more.
9. My own personal choice of how to make a sturdy wrist strap from items around the house! Bear in mind the MONSTER weighs about 500g!
10. Instructions how to construct a knee strap
A WRIST STRAP!!!! added!

Bear in mind that when ordering, the Monster MAY take up to 5 days to arrive. But usually the whole kit is in stock and ready to go within 24 hours.

NOTE: I am not trying to compete with the M5 system at all. This is just my own 'put together' kit. I consider it as being great value for money, as basically the MONSTER Bertha magnet alone retails for about £50 if you bought it separately from a magnet store. By buying them in bulk, I am able to keep the cost low, and pass the saving on.

ALSO NOTE: The MONSTER isn't a toy. It is a VERY powerful magnet, and bear in mind that I brought a MONSTER and a MEGA Bertha within a foot of each other, and the MEGA leaped up so quick that it actually took a slice of my finger out. Subsequently, it took a bench vice and two chisels to separate them. That's a true story!

All you need to use the MONSTER is a little imagination. There's a load of info in my GF:Size Matters booklet, which is included, but of course, in order to make full use of the MONSTER, you'll need to be subtle.

Wow! That sounds like an incredible package!

Might I point out that your website doesn't quite show off these extra goodies in quite the same way, you may want to update it.

But what can I say, other than that I really want one!

Hiya.

I've had to be careful on the website as not to make it sound like the M5 package. It's not intended to be that way. It just fits that most of the things you get are used in the booklet.

Perhaps I should be a little more revealing in the info? Hmmmm.
Plus, Osterlind ain't happy about people doing PK type sharpies!

Let's see how well they sell first. I already have 5 orders ;)

Yeah I assumed it was a magnet only package. But I wonder I'm not familier with M5 package, so can I use this Moster maget with its full potential? People say that you can buy magnets from E-bay with very low prices but they don't give you methods to use, or effects with them.

Apologies to Seige but its worth sourcing the gimmick from somewhere else. The booklet on the other hand is well worth every penny.
