FIRE CARDS

Postby ultimatecreate » May 12th, '06, 00:55

hey all,

Used to own Hot Leads a while ago, and although Ive now lost the wallet, wondered if anyone uses lighter fluid in their effects. I wouldnt mind making an effect which I force a card, run a lighter over the backs of all cards, and the forced card catches, but im having trouble keeping the card moist with lighter fluid, and as soon as it dries it does not light. The prospects of putting a soaking card into a pack which will only wet the other cards, causing them all to burn in a magic trick gone horrificly wrong does not sound too tempting. Im using Swan extra refined lighter fluid, could this be affecting it?

Also - if anyone has any ideas for tricks with lighter fluid let me know.

Thanks,

Alex

I don't think so - odourless lighter fluid doesnt sound likely. Has anyone found a way of making a card flammable without it having to be wet? Mabey soaking it in lighter fluid for a long period of time???

Thanks,

Alex

I personally wouldn't force the same card on the spectator, but a duplicate. Just to be safe. In general it's not a great idea to give anything extremely flamable to your spectators to handle. And also they are much less likely to figure out your secret if they don't get to play around with it.

If you are continuing with the same deck after you may want to palm off the duplicate card so that they don't see it in the deck later and find it suspicious that they just saw that one burn.

Hope this helps
Giz

Either/or - by dousing the card in lighter fluid it does kinda catch easily and burst into flames. Did you have a suggestion to make?

Thanks

Bake it?? You actually have to soak the paper and bake it, or can it dry out on its own if left in a dry place?

Obviously has its risks, but im sure putting what would be effectively a piece of flash paper into an oven is not too dangerous, seeing as their made to withstand immense heats and there generally isn't much that could burn/light in there. Guess that'd be your home made flash paper gone though :(

just bake paper(tissue paper) it goes thin and catches fire in a flash

p.s it's close to flash paper but not as good
