I have to agree with Tony, Loops are a brilliant system.

The hook-up is much easier, the EIT (to coin an abbreviation) seems stronger, and the finishing up is almost totally clean.

I use a bit of both, although I'm pretty adverse to 'levitation' effects, I tend to use Loops for rising cards, ghost deck cuts, quick and simple floats, and the world famous Floating Lemon routine.

I've ordered the 'T.I.E.S' loop-making system from the States, and I'm hoping it lives up to expectations.

My favourite ITR, which is ideal for UFO and quick rising effects has to be my mini-motorised model. It cost a fortune, but it's lovely.

So nice, in fact, I can hardly bring myself to use it. It's absolutely great, and in honesty, I've used it more for vanishes that PK-type or levitation effects.

Back to (the) thread... the UFO type effects are NOT so easy to perform.
The hardest part of the whole thing seems to be where the card spins around the body. That's probably the biggest waste of IT.

The Ufo is a great trick an certainly gives unreal looks, but i would urge you all to do the trick for a short amount of time, and try not to repeat things like sending the card through a loop of your arms. This is so that the audience have little time to think of what is giong on-Its a bit like doing the trick again if you repeat the actions, so for magicians sake don't spend 5 minutes on it, but instaed practise it well and it will be a quick trick that will stun everyone.

P.s
Has anyone mastered spinning the card round the body- for me something( i wont mention what!) gets caught, does anyone have the same problem or tips on throwing it around the body
Thanks!

I got this trick a while ago and still havn't mastered it. I still try and practice it now and again but i've pretty much given up on it. I'm going to find the website of the company I bought it from and ask for some help with it.

Hi all

just back from my hols where I managed to include Vegas for a couple of days.... (which also means I'm not going to be able to afford any more 'tricks' for a month)... but just thought I'd ad that the UFO is still being heavily promoted in all the 'Houdini' magic shops in the casinos....

I didn't succomb myself as I seem to remember reading that it is quite a hard trick to master... although the guys demoing it made it look awesome...

I suppose the point of this message is that I reckon they sell a lot of these to people caught in the moment only for them to remain at the bottom of the drawer.... maybe I should check out ebay for some 'never used' second hand versions...

I felt like people who bought this might go away with the impression that ...'its all a bit of a con' ....

I'd have felt much happier if the guys had been demoing some of the 'easier' stunning effects such as pena coin... which people could actually do after that had purchased it.
