Magic and Mentalism Research

Postby Renato » May 14th, '06, 17:24

As any creators of magic and mentalism will know, when you've got what you consider to be a perfect effect that you want to publish, research is the one major hurdle that you must tackle and overcome - in other words, you have to put in the time and effort and if you find that your effect is sufficiently original enough and all of that then you can go ahead and publish it.

Now, I know that some companies will help you to research it, and you can always call on other magicians and mentalists - but this is such a huge field and one that is constantly growing that it becomes harder and harder to research. Is there not some kind of website that assists with this in one way or another? I am sure I have heard of such websites, but cannot name any. Perhaps here would be a useful place for people to provide links to any such sites, or to offer their own pearls of wisdom when it comes to researching.

... not heard of any.

Probably worth trying the various forums, and Internet, and the classic book like Corinda, Annemann etc?

Best,

Piers.

The secrets forum as a starting point? At least if someone's heard of a similar effect it'll narrow down your search.

Thanks for the link - that was the kind of thing I was looking for...but just on a much larger basis.

The classics are always a good place to go to, but there are always brand new effects coming out which are hard to keep up with - a look at www.moremagictricks.co.uk for example reveals thousands that I've never heard of. I suppose the secrets forum is the best online place to use as a resource, but wouldn't it be great if there were a huge database.

Thanks again!
