I was wondering if there would ever be a live dvd of Derren Brown's performances or the hour long specials....the nice people replied -

"There are no plans as yet to release dvd versions of the hour specials, although there is always the possibility.
As for the live show on dvd, there is a strong chance that this might be happening sometime in the near future."

so, basically....wooohoooo!

Would love it if Derren produced a DVD of his live shows. I have been to see him do his live shows, and want to see them again! I am a bit of a fan if I am honest, got all his DVD's, videos and books. All fantastic, but my only slight dissapointment is the International Magic Lecture DVD.

On it are some fantastic effects, but only an explanation for 1 card effect. Its good, dont get me wrong, and I have spent my fair share of £££ on very average packet tricks etc. and the £25 this DVD cost me is worth it for this one effect. But maybe I just expected too much.

So lets keep our fingers crossed for a live DVD eh?

Saw him last night in Ashton and it was excellent. The glass trick (if you've seen it you'll know) left me cold but the rest was outstanding. The counting buttons thing left me as absolutely mystified as ever. I just have no idea at all how he does it, except that he doesn't count them.

The misdirection was exceptional. People who had seen the show before and were watching it again swore blind (for example) that the specs had never let go of their envelopes, even though DB had taken them all away and given some envelopes back. Most (?) of the audience simply never noticed. Just really great work.

One trick (white lies) was played up beautifully, which just goes to show how much can be made from a simple method. Such a very simple method, too, but developed into a fantastic effect. Definitely added to my list.

He covered well when a trick went wrong. One trick relied on two specs being downstairs but one was "selected" upstairs who then couldn't see what the other was holding. He got away with it pretty well, I thought.

The best bit of something out of nothing was the film. Again, you'll know what I mean if you've seen it. The best bit was when the guy next to me said "it was different seat numbers last time". No, really? Great effect and great convincers as to his powers to influence, built on nothing. Masterful.

I'd go again like a shot.

After reading ian69's experience, the dvd won't be as good as the live performance. Because they'll cut out the wrong going trick, etc. But it's the only way to watch his show for me and the others overseas. So I hope they'll release it soon.

Would love to see him live.

I wonder if he would try to keep the parts in going wrong though.
He does show that he doesn't always get it right, which only adds to the whole thing. People aren't so inclined to think everything is set up that way. ( I'm NOT saying it is )

I would love him to produce a DVD I saw his recent UK tour and wow, it was amazing.

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

My ten year old son wants to see him too, but some people say the show might not be suitable. Knowing my son though, I think he would be perfectly OK. Any thoughts from those that have seen his shows?

Will he/you be offended by swearwords?

Will he try to put a plastic bag over his head or hammer a nail into his nose just because Derren did it?

Those are the main issues. I would have loved it at ten.

No to the plastic bag. I've done dagger head chest etc on him enough times and he wouldn't get a kitchen knife!! He's 10, he's heard plenty of swearing by now.

I wasn't sure if it was just the content, or if people thought it might go over his head, which I know it wont.

Thanks for the info. Apart from the odd item that people haven't thought was so good for them, I have only heard good things about his shows.
