Really silly trick I thought of in the shower

Postby ohminku » May 21st, '06, 17:41

This is a silly concept, but it's kinda funny so hope you enjoy it.. it's a variation of many tricks out there- I'm sure. Please, go easy on my Canadian English 8)

Thanks!

haha. I liked it, nice job. I liked the rim-shot right in the middle of the trick too.

Thanks,

Very nice. The music reminded me of the music used for the house with the crazy lights and everything. LOL

Anyways, need to work on the DL a little more so you don't have those little problems here and there. :)

Very nice idea haha. Yea, just a variation on other tricks! :P

Work on the DL and I'd say use a pinky break to do it as it's much easier and speccies never see it! (If you do it well :P)

I think you could do an Ego change there as well as a way of revealing the 8 of clubs. Something like "Honest! It really is *Ego Change* your card!" And voila! :D

wow i had to buffer 10 times to watch this. Nice trick, I think you tried to feel a double and you missed if im not wrong. I use a feel DL too, it helps to bevel the cards to the side with your palm. And I agree that using a color change will make the trick stronger

Cool

I really liked that. I like how you made the blank card say "The card you selected". Alot of people will just use a blank card or some other 'odd' card, I think you using a blank card with "The Card you Selected" printed on it makes it alot stronger of an effect :D. The only thing I can say is at the end, the DL, and when you put the card back in the deck, and dropped the cards back on the pack, it didn't look 100% natural (the break). Other than that, thumbs up, great job!

Kind Regards,

Ricky

Thanks for all the responses. Yeah, I tried to feel the double, usually works but not so much on the video, lol. Anyway, thanks for the tips, I think I will eventually use the Ego change, but I still have to practice getting the angle correct in front of people, rather than the webcam... Any tips on this Stevebo (thanks for the tips on the ego change too :D)?.

Cheers,

Min Ku

Does anyone have a clip of someone doing the ego change? I may have seen it but never knew its name

Nice concept. I think it would be cool to use a colour change to reveal the selection. There are loads to choose from:

- Ego Change - as stevebo said (Garcia)
- Shapshifter (De Sousa)
- Twirl Change (Sankey - well kind of...)
- Erdnase Change (Erdnase/Houdini apparently)

There are loads more to be found out there. Personally I would use the Erdnase change for this. From a technical perspective if you can do a good "Feel DL" (Or "Instantaneous DL" by Dr Daley I think it's called) then you should have no trouble with an Erdnase Change.

The Ego change becomes a kinda knack once you get the hang of it. I can do it no problem with spectators. The angle is only an issue from the right. But I tend to tilt my hand down slightly so that the angle isn't too much of a problem. Also, the sound for the Ego Change has NEVER been a problem for me even though many magicians complain about the sound it makes. The spectators won't know what happened even with the sound.

But if you want tips on how to make it soundless and smooth, try to keep the right hand as low as possible, even touching the cards, and do the change slowly. The right hand can give cover for the whole card for a split second, giving just enough time for the left hand to do the change. Think about the movement of the card and try to match your right hand so that it covers the card as it moves.

Hope this helps.

And you can learn the Shapeshifter from any videos you see of it! lol... that's how I learnt it :P.

And here's a link to a video I just made for the Ego Change.
