Icarus or Angels? that is the question

Postby greml1n » Apr 20th, '06, 21:49

I have the Criss Angel DVD and i have a freind who has Icarus.

My question is WHY would they release both.

I see that both are the same effect(except icaus is done from the front)

you should use a elevated surface for both

both are angle sensitive

the only major diffrence i see is that icarus comes with custom nasa material to make the gimmick, where as the angel is only instructions on how to make a "makeshift" gimmick

but i guess my argument is if you have nasa materials and are a good seamstress, you could make the icarus with only the angel DVD

like i said i have a friend who preformed icarus to me and i have the angel dvd

so my question to you is:

are they so diffrent?

thanks

I'm not into levitations but it seems that you may have answered the question yourself within your post as you have stated that the methods of performing are different.

I would also suggest that the reason that both have been released is that they are marketed by two different companies, both trying to get their product onto the market.

From what I've heard, the Icarus comes already assembled and you need to personalise this. There are a number of posts on both of these levitations which may give you some more insight.

According to an individual that had a little something to do with the development of this effect, they are both essentially the same thing. From the "insider's" world, there's a bit of controversy around the whole deal.

I found them both interesting in looking at the footage, but I also feel they are both highly impractical.

I suppose the reason they would release both is so that more people can get rich off a highly impractical levitation.

They could have amalgamated the 2 and just worked on turning one of them into a supercharged levtitation... but alas, it would seem, not.

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism
