Right, totally confused now. Yes I did think he was human, is he not?

One easy way to check.

Compare his leg to yours.

Then you can work out who's leg is being pulled.

What happens to his leg? I have not seen any of their shows, this is why I wanted to order a DVD on them.

You have had yours taken out of you.

OK I give up I am totally lost in this conversation. If this is a joke, I really do not get it, probably because I have Autism (any one who does not know what this is google it or even better click this link http://www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=211 ) I don't get a lot of things I also can't talk much, I didn't actually learn to talk till I was over 5 years of age. I have very little imagination but get on very well with magic, I can type fine but sometimes I use a special computer program to change text in to pictures for things I don't understand as images are easier for my brain to understand. I don't understand social skills but try my hardest to fit in. But on the up side I can use sign language very well!

Anyway just incase this is a joke, I thought I should explain before the whole forum thinks I am thick. I hope this does not sound nasty, it is not ment to. I am very open about my Autism but I do not advertise it, If any one has any questions please feel free to ask.

AJ82.

Yes, it is a joke.

Phrases such as "having your leg pulled" and "taking the Mickey" are used to imply someone has had a joke pulled on them.

Your post wasn't nasty, anymore than mine were intended to be.

I know in future to give more thought into future answers to you.

IN NO WAY, will this be because I feel you are "thick.

Darrel.

Thanks for the explanation, like I said I don't mind people knowing, I use to be very open about it and when I joined another forum I posted that I was autistic from the start and got some quite nasty PM's stating their was no place in magic for people of my kind. I have now found this foum (I think some may call it a blessing in disguise - hope I got the words right) and I hope anyone who reads this thread does not think less of me because of it (So many people judge me because of it). Anyway thanks for the reply, slightly regretting posting the fact I have Autism but hay, we will see what happens!

You may notice, I haven't said sorry for my posts. If I had known, then it would have been nasty.

Sorry to hear you have had stupid PM's from other Forums.

To hear people say "your kind" disgusts me.

The sad thing is, they feel they are better than you.

The way you have handled this thread proves otherwise.

You are the one who can hold your head up.

Darrel, I would not expect you to say sorry, far far from it. You did not know and even if you did know, there is nothing wrong with a joke or saying or doing something I don't understand. I do it all the time in sign language, when out in public if I sign and don't talk people look at me in amazement, especially when I was much younger and its amazing what you can say in sign these days! Magic is what I call my universal language. I can do trick (not that do thank many infront of people) and I don't need to speak or to speak much and they still understand. I wrote a very long piece on magic and autism once. Thank you for your kind comments. The world needs more people like you.

My son has ADHD, been tested for Autism (negative) Aspergers (being tested again, Dyspraxia and Dyslexia( undecided).

He helps with my magic. Sounds like they would have started sending me PM's too.

Yes, that was the reason for me not saying sorry. I knew you would understand, but some people may have thought I should have done.

Glad you have found the enjoyment magic can bring.

I have dyspraxia and I too have problems fitting in with people and am very shy. I got into magic because I admired those street magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel (as much as others may hate them) who could go up to literally anyone on the street and perform magic for them and they would think they were pretty cool.

Going up to people in the street and showing them tricks is rather a daft thing to do. You are going to get negative reactions doing that.

It should be remembered that David Blaine is approaching people with a full camera crew. People notice this and it makes a world of difference.

I know they only show the tricks that produce a positive response. There were a couple on one of David Blaine's dvds where he said on the commentary that the guy was drunk or something and almost ruined the trick and there was also footage of him approaching people who weren't interested. Also from what I've heard you can't tell if the people Criss Angel performs tricks to are stooges or not.
