Taught and gone over, by the great Don Driver.

Cost
I believe 20, but I bought it from him Directly so....

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

#5

Review
If your interested in busking this is a great dvd to pick up. You are taught a legenday Bally from the great Don Driver.
You get to see a couple of videos of Don busking, as well as a friend using the bally to get a "tip". You are suppiled with the dvd, a special picture, and the script. ITs just great information to have. It covers alot about the bally taught, and the tip in general. Busking is a fun and yet challeneging form of magic... and should really be taken seriously. Buy it watch it study, then write your own. If you plan on using the one taught, do it justice.

Overall
Great 9/10.

Sine my reviews are not the best....
Any questions, feel free to ask me

--------
old review
He shows you his version of the pitch and Mr. Stranges version. BOth give their own tips and input on the "pitch."

If your interested in starting to busk, or jsut in becomming a street performer this is a great dvd to purchase.

i would give it a 9/10.

any questions?

I don't think it is too short since it will get a crowd literally within seconds of doing it. Within a minute you will have the beginnings of quite a big crowd.

Don is using a very old system and script which originally came from the repertoire of the jam auction worker. Since this is a British forum I had better explain that the "jam auction" is very much related to a British scam known as the "run out". Some of you may have seen this operated in seaside resorts and it used to be done in shop fronts in Oxford St London.

Lots of stuff is thrown out as gifts such as cheap pens, packs of cards etc; to gather a crowd for a demo which lasts around 45 minutes or so and you end up buying a pile of junk but think you are getting a bargain.

UK operators of this scam do not use the method Don describes but his "bally" is in widespread use among jam auction workers in the USA.

I think it is a shame that Don has given this bally away to magicians who don't really deserve it. It is far too valuable for magicians and it doesn't come from their world. It comes from the world of the pitchman or as they call it in the UK -grafter.

Street magicians don't seem to me to be too good at drawing crowds around them in the first place. I have seen them struggle for ages to do it. Don's bally will solve the problem for them within two minutes of doing it.

I hope this isnt refering to me....

It doesn't refer to you specifically. It refers to magicians generally. I get on well with Don but he is aware of my feelings that he gives too much away.

I believe that secrets of the pitchman should be kept secret. I don't like the idea that this knowledge goes out to all and sundry. Don has also put out a video telling people how to sell svengali decks. I would never dream of giving information like this away. It is very bad for business and I would be cutting my own throat by doing so. I have been selling svengali decks all over the world for 40 years or so and I have the best routine in existence for doing so.

The information you have been given about the jam auction bally is as old as the hills and is very valuable stuff. I don't think magicians deserve it. However since you have it be aware that you have something extremely valuable. You have something worth thousands of dollars.

Appreciate it and once the fuss has died down tell nobody where you got it and don't teach it to anyone otherwise you will find some busker next to you doing it and well you will deserve it.

after watching it i realized its worth, and Don personally recomended it to me after talking about starting to busk. I have expressed my appreciation and love for this bally. I plan on using it as it is for the first couple of times, then i plan on making it my own. And i can understand your feelings on this subject. I see this all the time, people that dont deserve it abuse it.

This all sounds like a pitch to sell a pitch to me.

I don't sell this item nor do I have any financial interest in it whatsoever. I would be perfectly happy if nobody buys it. I do agree however that my remarks will tend to encourage sales rather than discourage them so Mr Driver will be quite happy with them.
