age in profile?

Postby silver shadow » Oct 9th, '03, 20:14

would it be possible to add an age to the profile section, so you know the age range of who you are specking to, thus being able to speak there language, i.e how you may speak to a minor would be far different from how you may speak to an adult.

what do you think?

OK, it goes like this:

I agree - it would be nice to have an age facility - HOWEVER...

It's not possible to have your age in your profile, but one thing which IS shown at all times is your location.

Therefore, I suggest that if you're inclined, add your age in brackets at the end of your location in your profile. I have done this as an example.

AND... in case you're wondering what the 'SH' with the name, here's a little system which may help... just put the relevant letters after your age...

EN = Eager Newbie
AH = Amateur Hobbyist
SH = Skilled Hobbyist
WP = Working Professional
CP = Career Professional

Whadda ya think, guys??? Best we can do with the tools available!

Sounds good to me - I'm tempted to suggest another category of TP (Total P*ll*ck) but I won't.

Am now off to edit my Profle!!

didnt think of that so added mine to my signature, if you are a newbie to the site you could think that the thing under the location was some sort of code for people in the know ??.

maybe we could do both, an aproximate age in your signature and an age code in the location?.

a skilled hobbyist is somone confident enough with his or her magic to perform on request be that impromtu or from props already carried.

the only difference between a skilled hobbyist and a working pro is oppertunity and desire to follow magic as a money making venture, the difference between a working pro and a careear pro is that a carrear pro 's only or major income comes from performances and trick sales.

if you cant go anyware without a deck of cards or some coins in your handbag or bumbag then your one step closer to being a working or carrear pro :lol:

So what would be the difference between a amateur hobbyist and a skilled hobbyist? Where do you draw the line?

an amature hobbiest spends less than two days a week doing and practising magic and only does so for personal pleasure or to entertain family and friends when bullied into doing so, you know the types who pull coins out of little kids ears and make large portions of cake dissapear. :lol:

or the type of people who learn a few tricks and keep doing the same set time and again never learning anything new happy to use the same method ad nausium oo err thats mee sorry.
