How do I get out of UFO card trick?

Postby dragon3003003 » May 27th, '06, 15:29

I have been using this trick for some time already but I knotice that when I finish the last move "around the body" then I would dive for the gimmick and kinda run, not wanting my spectators to see the gimmick. I am not sure if everyones thinks this way but when i do try to get out of the trick I notice the gimmick and automatically conclude to that the spectators also sees it bceause the...you know it starts to skrink. and making it pretty visible. How can I get out of this trick without drawing all attention to the gimmick?

Just grab the card, hold the face for all to see and remove the 'gimmick' with the thumb.

Take it off then put it somewhere else, like on your button [on a shirt] on on you neck or something.

Stick it on your belt, or most clothes have some sort of hard bit somewhere to get rid of it but I find, on the ocassions I do it that no one notices it on your thumb so slow it down - don't run if you're not being chased

I use to wear a belt bt not anymore but thats for that suggestion. My main fear is that people would do a cavity search on me, you some people actually do that. So what can I do to get their attenion on the card and not me or the gimmick?

To be honest, if you throw the card down on the table then all attention will be there. They will all scrabble to investigate the card. If you really want to get rid of the gimmick then that would be the time. Just drop it on the floor, no one will know, and you can grab it later.
The gimmick will obviously go unnoticed on the floor.

Maybe even put it on your head...

It is all about spectator control. Don't really worry so much about failing in the beginning. That is the best part of the learning process. The odd are you won't fail if you focus on doing it well. Failing is often caused by self-doubt or lack of confidence. But this results from the idea that failing is bad, and it makes you a bad magician. That is not always true. Get good rapport with the people you are entertaining. Do some sure fire effect, then practice the hard ones. If you do this right, on the few chances you fail, or have a bad spectator, everyone else will generally blow it off as an "oh well" and still be really impressed. And you, instead of feeling embarrased for no reason, can learn a new piece of the trick. And next time will do alot better.
