Problem with Kioku/Sanctum cards

Postby moonbeam » May 28th, '06, 19:58

My Sanctum card and 2 of my Kioku cards have come apart at the seam.
For the Sanctum card I can just apply a lil' glue to the edges - it doesn't really matter. However, with the Kioku cards it's a different story, I need all the cards to look the same - I don't want any blobs of glue showing, that may enable me (or anyone else) to distinguish one card from another (those of you who have the cards will understand).

Anyone else having this problem and any suggestions as to what to do ??

......and before anyone asks - I haven't been mistreating them - they've only been sat on a chest of drawers with minimal use

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Ah the joy of laminated stuff...

My sanctum card began to do this as well, but having laminated stuff in the past I worked out a way of sorting it out (dunno if Roth'll have a better way). Laminating is done by passing a card and two thin plastic sheets through a machine that hot presses it together. Therefore what I did was repeat the process with a hot oven door.

It's a question of heat really rather than glue, maybe a hot knife would do the same as the above method, the main thing is to get it hot enough to seal the edges but not hot enough to burn.

(alternatively pm the man himself and see what he suggests) :D

If the Kioku cards are just paper (don't own it...yet!) laminating them does sound like a good idea. I think Staples might do it, you'd have to ask. I wouldn't really expect a piece of paper to last that long...

Hi guys,
Wow really sorry about that. Must have been a bad batch of laminate.

The simple soloution is to put all 4 cards on one laminate sheet and re-laminate them over the existing laminate.

When you cut them just make sure you cut outside the sealed lip and they will not come apart.

Most office supply or copy stores have laminators. PM me which cards you need and I will send them to you.
