Bonjour!

Postby rabbit » Jun 10th, '06, 05:14

Well hello my fellows! My name is Ben, but everybody I know just calls me rabbit (some people call me bunny, and even fewer call me bunny-rabbit, must just call me rabbit though.) I'm 19 and am a musician (playing the guitar [acoustic, electric, and classical/flamenco], banjo, and piano), a stencil artist, a poet, and a skateboarder, I also enjoy website programming and graphic developing in my spare time, and I read constantly, if I were to list my favorite writers/poets this thread would continue much longer than I'm sure many of you would like it to be. Recently I've become interested in magic (I prefer to call it illusions though), who knows why now and not before, I'm just eccentric and impulsive like that... but I picked up some cards and watched some free tutorials and now I'm pretty sure that I really like it, and I'm going to keep it up. Any advice you can give me as a n00b to illusions would be so much help :) Thanks a bunch,

-rabbit

Hi and welcome. Alot of people say to start with the following DVDs for card magic... Born to perform http://www.penguinmagic.com/europe/product.php?ID=618 and Royal Road To Card Magic http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk/mark ... cts_id=110 (book and DVD versions avaliable)
I like this DVD for magic with everyday items (keys and so on) http://www.penguinmagic.com/europe/product.php?ID=466 and for coin magic maybe http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=4333. Have a look in the review section for some more ideas.

Enjoy your stay.

Alex

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

It's good to have you on board rabbit! Are you from France and if so which part of France?

The "Royal Road To Card Magic" and "Complete Introduction to Coin Magic" DVD are very good recommendations by AJ82 and these teach you alot of the mandatory basics that you need to know about card & coin magic. I think they are a wonderful introduction to the world of magic (or illusions). I have only seen trailers of the other two DVDs recommended by AJ82 and they seem pretty good.

hello and thanks for the welcome everybody! No, I'm not from Frence, just speak the language a bit, I'm from the US (although If I had my choice I'd be from Japan, or Italy or someplace like that  )

I bought the Royal Road book as an eBook on eBay for $1.27... I love ebay :D So I'm gonna work on that for awhile, and see what I can make of it.
