Desert Island Tricks!

Postby MagicAL » Jun 13th, '06, 20:31

Evening all.
I am moving next week, but unfortunatelly our new house is not yet ready. We are going to have to live at assorted friends for a month or 2. As space is of a premium, I have had to pack my large collection of books and DVD/VHS away into storage with the rest of our stuff.

I am planning on taking one (maybe 2 books) and one DVD with me to get me by during my time living out a bag. I always have cards etc. in my brief case aswell as TT's hankies, spong balls etc. so this stuff goes with me everywhere.

My question is, what one Book and One DVD should I take? All suggestions greatly appreciated, if its something I own already great, if not I am willing to buy. (Bonus time in next weeks pay packet!) Damn CUPS!

Thats the hard bound red covered one if I am correct? Hmmm like your thinking. Got that one already and stuff in there takes some working at. One for the short list already. (I think my short list might be quite long!)

dvd could be sal's lecture notes...i don't have it myself, but plan to get it, and it is supposedly rather difficult so it will be something to keep you busy and work at ;)

Love

Hmmm, books 1 or maybe 2 you say,

I would take "The Royal Road To Card Magic" book as the DVD's might count as 5, and Bobos "The New Modern Coin Magic" book. As far as DVD's or videos go maybe I would go for Jay Sankey "22 Blows To The Head" and get mental on the people putting you up!

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

My favourite book on magic is "The First Psychic" by Peter Lamont. It's all about Victorian magicians, how they were influenced by the spiritualists, and one spiritualist in particular Donald Dunglas Home. It's a right rollocking read! I must have read in 6 times already! No tricks in it though...unless you like figuring out how they did it by yourself! The author, Peter Lamont, is a very funny guy, and you will laugh out loud in parts and be transfixed with wonder in others. Peter Lamont is also a research fellow at Edinburgh University where he specialises in the history and psychology of magic. Very recommended.

As for DVD's, it has to be the Devil's Picturebook I think...

I agree with the 22 blows to the head dvd. There's quite a lot of stuff on there and will take you a long time to perfect everything!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...
