Oh, yes, I bouht Mr. Uri "The Charlatan" Geller spoons too.
And now I´m lying to myself and to my old parents and to all my friends that I have "mindfreak" powers. And they pay to see me.
But hey, if people thinks I´m an entertainer, that´s fine. Who cares?

Salute.

People who don't believe that Uri has any special powers always tend to say "but he is a gifted magician." I don't even think he's a very good magician! He based his whole career on bending spoons and starting watches. Most of us on this forum know exactly how that's done. So how come those 2 tricks have netted him a fortune?

Because Uri really believes that he has super powers, and that belief is transfered to his audience. It is that belief that makes him stand out from all other mentalists/magicians (the 2 DB's excepted).

50 years ago *all* mentalists claimed they had super powers. It was part of the act. Now in the PC world we live in this is deemed by the majority as being unacceptable. I'm not sure where I stand on this one to be honest. I can see both sides of the argument (see my To Be Psychic or Not To Be Psychic thread).

When people ask me if I'm psychic I used to say "No." You could see the disappointment on their faces when I told them I wasn't the real deal. People really want to believe. Surely as magicians/mentalists it's our job to bring form to that belief? :?: And isn't that all that Uri is doing?

Don't take this the wrong way everyone, but please be careful about what you say about Uri. Has been know to take legal action against those who question him in public.

Real or not, he has given the magic World some wonderful routines that many of us use and get good results with. I have done several of his routines (and not say i am a magician) and was told i had deep psychic powers. I love to perform his 'picture duplication telepathy' routine.

I saw Uri Gellar perform live down here (Isle of Wight) a few years back, even got to meet him backstage. His show was very entertaining. He bent spoons, made watches work again, affected a large maritime compass and appeared to make a seed from a previousley unopened packet sprout a shoot! I know alot of you magicians don't like him because he claims to be the real deal but i think he's great. We need people like him to keep the mystery alive. How do you know he's not the real deal anyway?

He has incredible psychic powers so he doesn't have to, his spoons will tell him everything you say...

I don't think he has, you know. He's taken one or two people who have seriously libeled him to court (Randi was one), but he has a long history of losing too.
