Yes! but it is a lot more safer as 'something' is a lot easier to do. You can pick the same information from eddie burke for £8.00 (the old nail under cup)

This effect was on the 'When magic tricks go wrong' show some months (maybe years) back. A magician was performing it, but using a spectator's hand. The tension built and their were two cups left - he slammed the hand of his female spectator straight down on to the cup with the spike under it. He left the stage VERY shortly after.

yeah, this trick doesnt really intrest me. not my type and the styrofoam kinda makes the trick looks sketchy like some guy doing a threecard monte thing on a cardboard box or a crate. unless thats your kind of thing...
