Hello again,
I've already made a few posts over the last few days but, wishing to adhere to the forum protocol, I'll also write a few words here! By profession I'm an accountant - and my hobbies are magic, music (guitar playing), and cars. I'm known to be a general "entertainer" - ever since I was young I always find myself in situations to entertain - whether it be providing music and song around a campfire or magic tricks to delight a crowd. I had been interested in magic tricks ever since I was a kid and knew quite a few basic card tricks enough to baffle most - but over the past year I have delved into the art in a more hardcore manner. I would like to spend more time on magic, but there is only so much free time in a day, especially when you also want to pursue other hobbies!
As for actual performances, I don't think I'll be doing any "street" magic anytime soon... I have a large circle of friends and usually I do some tricks at get-togethers and barbeques and the like, and I do a fair amount at work (everyone at the office is always asking for a new trick - and the common joke is that the company is doing so well because a magician dealing with the financials!) Actually this is not an ideal situation for magic, because most people I perform an effect for KNOW me. Therefore I try to stay away from completely mindblowing effects like levitations or stigmata and such. It's a real handicap when people know who you are vs coming in as a stranger and an actual Magician. Mind you my greatest fan is undoubtedly my fiancee (whom I have to re-assure that I haven't sold my soul to the devil from time to time) and she NEVER wants to know how an effect is done because she is genuinely impressed by the magic and would like to keep it that way! We'll see how this all plays out next Wednesday when I will perform a magic show at the company golf tournament.
Anyways, I look forward to sharing some thoughts (unfortunately I have more to learn than to offer) in this forum and continually honing my presentation and sleight skills.
