One of the greatest things about being into magic is spending hours pouring over catalogues (both paper & on-line), and planning your next purchases and how the new tricks will fit into your routines.

My fave on-line retailer used to be magicshop.co.uk, but as my magic & my routines are beginning to take on a darker almost gothic edge I find myself more drawn now towards Black Hart and NUMS.

Does anyone have a favourite retailer? If so would you care to recommend them to all?

Incidently on the "gothic magic" front, I've just spent a wonderful day meeting various club promoters and bar owners on the Sheffield gothic & rock scene! They've been very supportive and interested in me working at their various venues and events, so I'm really chuffed. I'll be able to give up the kids shows soon!!!

My favourites would be
1. NUMS 2. JB Magic 3. Black Hart.

I won't be buying much retail magic from now on, just the odd piece from Black Hart

BlackHart is number one for me, then the occasional book from Alakazam, and little bits n bobs from cards4magic...

...though im always sorely tempted by the lovely books from martin breese's site too...thats where i got the gerry sadowitz stuff from...

other than that - its been more 'props' that i've seen from non magic sites recently that have been giving me ideas...

Not sure if designer/retailers count in this but if they do, Outlaw Effects does it for me...

The service is ace and I haven't been disappointed with the quality of the bits of kit Roth sells. My favourite item I've brought recently is my Outlaw wallet and I'm looking forward to Whitechapel appearing on my doortep too...

Pretty much apart from that I shop around for the best price..

I use MagicBox most of their time. Their service is second to none and are really friendly. Plus they price match on any items.

I've also started to use Alakazam as they stock a wide range of effects and quite a cheap price.

I know what you mean. I love creating my own scripts in which to fit in various tricks and routines. And a few props like ouiji boards, tarot cards, and pendulums can really add a bit of spice to middle-of-the-road tricks!

I know they're outrageously expensive but my favourite gear has to be Collectors Workshop.

Some of their more affordable items also happen to be amongst their best and the video catalogue is worth buying alone to see the effects performed.

I was lucky enough to own a CW 'Gumball Machine' until it was stolen by a well known fellow magician (not anybody I have seen as yet on this forum I hasten to add!)... Serves me right for 'lending' it to him two years ago I suppose <sigh>.
