Blargh. Does being up at midnight with toothache when you have work at 6 constitute as calling sick?

Yes! keep on using a bit of alcohol. Also try a small bit on the tooth (i assume you have a hole). Always works

Thanks Stephen.
Getting better I think.

Will this be a long term (ie will I be able to sleep again without the pain?) or is it short term, as in I'll need to keep doing it to stop the pain?

See a dentist (i was a biologist ). If it is the same tommorrow then yo probably need help. You could try to put some on before you go to sleep.

Manager is an asshole and it's £40 I could really do with...

But I'd rather lose my £40 and spend the day nursing my tooth, than go to work on no sleep with toothache.. :(

Btw, I am mortally afraid of dentists and I'm not on the register anymore... I got struck off my old surgery

Do I have to live through this excruciating pain?
Can I take the tooth out myself?
Where can I pay for private treatment which will give me general anaesthetic...?

If you get to a chemist in the morning, ask for a bottle of clove oil. Name may have changed but just say it is to numb a toothache.

I have clove oil in my medicine box.
What do I do with it?

If it says for toothache (make sure it is the right one) put a small amount on your finger tip and rub it into the gum near the tooth that hurts. Now put more on the finger and put some around the tooth. You can tell if it works because you feel a slight burning and your mouth goes numb

Do this every 3 hours assuming you can't sleep.

Mmmm clovey smell...

Ok. My mouth is certifiably on fire

It's working. Can't feel a damn thing on this side of my mouth.
Thank you Stephen! If I didn't taste like cloves, and didn't have a girlfriend I'd kiss you

No need to worry. Just rub enough in and it works like the stuff they put on your gum if you're nesh of needles in the dentist's chair. you'll feel it warm, then nothing. Lovely job.
