Karl Fulves Self-Working Card Tricks

Postby AJ82 » Jun 16th, '06, 20:31

I have been going through some old boxes of magic items (Books, Videos) and remembered how amazing some of the things were so I thought I would review a few of the items starting with this one.

Karl Fulves Self-Working Card Tricks ISBN 0 486 23334 0

The Effect
72 foolproof card tricks split in to the following catagories; Card locations, Impromptu, Poker deals, Coincidence tricks, Mental magic with cards, Test conditions, Strange secrets, Revelations, Miracles with cards

Cost
£4.08 from amazon.co.uk

Difficulty
1=Easy to do

Review
113 pages of easy to do card tricks with no slight of hand. Original publish date of 1976 so quite old now but still a good book for those of you out there who like self working tricks. Over 40 easy to follow illustrations. All tricks can be done with a borrowed deck and usually not much set up.

Overall
I would give it an 9 out of 10 for the simple reason it is cheep, self working and an easy read. As time has passed I have become less fond of self working tricks such as these not because they are no good but because I like to challenge myself with slights.

Look out for more reviews coming on classical books and videos that are still avaliable but maybe overlooked. :D [/url]

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

There are many of these in the series and they are all good.

Yes - I agree that they are good. in fact I'd go as far as saying that they are all an excellent resource for a beginner and great value for money!

Highly recommended.

I own a few of Fulves' books myself, and can also thoroughly recommend them.

Self Working Magic Books by Karl Fulves

Postby Zanoni » Jun 22nd, '06, 22:37

The Self Working Magic Books (total of 6) by Karl Fulves and published by Dover are definitely a must have and must read for anyone starting out or someone already in the craft of close-up/street magic who needs some idea books.

All the routines, although self-working, are not like those cheesey effects you get out of the kids self-working magic books. These are straight-up, grown-up effects. Definitely five stars!
