So, how did you get started?

hi all! first off, im new here. my real name is Jeff, and I am 23.
I thought that while introducing myself, it would be fun to start a thread about how everyone became interested in the art of illusion.

well, heres my story:
i have always been facinated with magic, for as long as I can remember. I always wanted to know HOW the magician did the trick, but at the same time, appreciating the illusion, and respecting the talent involved in creating the illusion, and wanted to develop it myself.
so with that being said, i started researching the art (and yes, this is an 'art'). Being so young at the time, and naturally, not having any money, i did what any other kid did. Bug my parents until they bought me those cheap magic kits/tricks.
then, it came to my attention that my dad owned, what turned out to be the most important and most read book that i own, "Scarne's book of magic". i have read that thing front to back so many times, i cant remember. I still thumb through it every once in a while.
even though, i dont concider myself anywhere past the amateur level, i still know enough to respect the art. so lately, i have been interested a little more, which is why im here now..
so, i look forward to posting here, and talking to you guys.

see ya around...

A very nice introduction, thank you and welcome to TM.

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

Welcome, Randy, and like Stephen said, it's nice to read a full introduction.

The search function at the top of the page is EXTREMELY helpful, as are quite a few (!) of our members.

Looking forward to seeing you around.
