Would you buy a TM enamel badge?

I thought it was about time we had a poll on this. I've posted it here because this forum gets more views than the requests forum, but please move if necessary.

Get voting, folks! I'm guessing we'll need at least a couple hundred people interested in this to make it worthwhile.

I can't vote until I know what it looks like. If it looks like the current TM logo then probably not, or if it's really cheap looking then probably not. No offence, fellow TMers!

There are some badge designs in the original badge thread in the requests forum... http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic8816.php

Pages 1, 3, 4 and 5 contain designs that people have submitted.

Suffice to say that this topic has enjoyed a lot of Modertor pondering and matters are progressing well. Watch, as they say, this space for further details in due course.....

Not bad. Bear in mind that if this badge becomes a reality, then it will probably be quite small so details won't really show up and small fonts are not a good idea.

Its a working idea....more than a finished idea...but its workable

maybe better as a logo than a badge then

WAY too much use of outer glow, my friend. Not a big fan of the mouth, either.

I think simplicity is a better option. Universal images that represent "magic" would work very well, but that's already failed miserably in the original discussion. The problem has now become trying to cram too much information into the images, in an attempt to satisfy everyone. Sadly, a middle ground has yet to be found.

I've given it a thought or two, as well, but no particular design really works for me.

Not that I would be inclined to buy one, but if TM were to do a badge they really should use their existing logo - it is their "corporate" ID, they should stick with it.

I was about to suggest the same thing. It may not be the best logo in the world, but like it or not, it's our logo and has been for at least as long as I've been a member here (nearly three years). For the most part, I think it fulfils most of the criteria for what makes a good badge; simple design and bold colours. The shading and title can easily be done away with, leaving just the words "TalkMagic".

If a different design is really wanted/needed, then something really simple and universal would be a good idea; perhaps a top hat-shaped badge with the letters TM printed on it or spilling out the top; or a bunny with TalkMagic tattooed on it...

If I had an ounce of artistic skill in me, I would make up those designs and post the images here; unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to start and even if I did, I lack the appropriate software.

Sometimes simple is best - ask Mandrake, he knows all about it! Only joking, matey. ;)

I also find that simple (even minimalist) is often the best way to go. How about a little brooch/pin thing in shiny silver or shiny plastic finish something like this?

This would probably be 200% magnification

That's nice - would have a prefence for enamel rather than plastic.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
