I just found him online... he really exists.

He's not taking the * :( :( :(

I was REALLY hoping it was all just a big joke. But alas not :(

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Dearie me. Stephen old chap. Just trying to be friendly. Be nice. I was merely trying to save you a bit of money.

I wonder why he is waxing so irritable. Oh. I forgot. Lowestoft. It does that to you.

Since there are no magic shops in Lowestoft or indeed any kind of amusement known to man I would have thought that he would be grateful for some titbits of information on where to get things cheaper. Nobody else here seems to be sharing that kind of information.

There will soon be a magic shop in Lowestoft (MINE!). We both know the score and get the joke but it worries me that some people may think you are serious. Shall we call a truce

I must inform the young man from Cambridgeshire that he is taking himself and me too seriously. He must calm himself down otherwise he will have high blood pressure and a stroke at an early age. If he has any sense he will see that he can learn from me. If he cannot control his young temper he will not be able to partake of my great knowledge and wisdom.

I shall say no more on this thread unless someone else is unnecessarily impertinent but I shall indeed allow you all to talk about me. Murray once said "talk about me good, talk about me bad. It doesn't matter as long as you talk about me."

Consider this thread a lesson in self promotion. YOU are talking about me. I am not talking about you.

Perhaps some of you who know me personally will pipe up on my behalf. And I do have many many fans all over the world.

Cheerio for now.

At least we can now discuss prices without 'attacks' flying left right and center.

I always thought members of the preisthood were provided with hats as part of their attire. I didn't realise that they may often have to resort to wearing there own rear ends in the absence of the traditional head gear.

I could go on all day with a rant on how irritating this condescending moron is and how much the people on this forum do not appreciate the way he has come here and decided to put people down. This is meant to be a supportive environment and the comments made here by Mark Lewis are not welcome in my book.

Therefore I ask that one of the moderators make a motion to something about it. I'm sure not alone when I say that I DO NOT FIND THIS ACCEPTABLE.

I am happy to call a truce with Stephen and I do wish him luck with his magic shop. I am aghast at the location though. LOWESTOFT? I would have thought that Yarmouth would have been better although I believe there is some sort of shop there already.

One thing I have picked up from magic shop owners all over the world including old Murray is that if you rely on the local magicians in the clubs you will starve. You will have to appeal to a wider range of people.

Are you selling novelties and other things or are you concentrating on magic alone? I get the sense that one has to be continually demonstrating if you work with magic alone and you need a very large stock indeed. In a larger city I think it is quite possible to get by with nothing but magic providing you demonstrate all day long and work very hard at it and sell stuff to beginners and hobbyists rather than magic club inhabitants. In a smaller town it may well be harder but of course the rents will be cheaper.

In a small town I would think that the mail order side of things would be very important.

The shop will be web based to begin and looking at getting an actual shop next year or sooner (i would love Yarmouth) No jokes or novelties. Just magic including my own Flash products. (I AM NOT PROMOTING MYSELF MODS )

The web would be good until you get into the swing of things. When you have a bricks and mortar shop that is when it can get a bit tough.

One compromise perhaps is to take a range of stuff that would appeal to the general public such as beginners magic and sell it at the myriad outdoor markets in East Anglia. Perhaps you could take a regular pitch once (or is it twice ) a week on Yarmouth market? If that interests you I can arrange it for you.

I may be in Canada but I have tentacles all over the world.

I was thinking of ebay but the prices are so high to list now. You have calmed down now i see  I have just thought that maybe one day my shop and Seige's excellent magic eshop may compete with Penguin ( we can dream ). There is a good market near beccles that has stalls. Expensive but worth the risk if i advertise it.
Anyway, back to pricing.....

Ok, the voice of a mod getting involved here.

I just read the entire thread from beginning to end and have to say I was laughing out loud at most of Mark's posts. Guys, those of you who feel attacked, I would advise you to take a step back and re-read the thread and try to see it from a different point of view. I am certain that Mark's intention is humour rather than insult, but it seems that this is not clear to at least 50% of readers and so is obviously not an accessible form of humour.

However, Mark, whether you intend to give offence or not, once it is clear that you have done so it is not acceptable to continue without an apology. I am sure that, once you have given it a try I am sure you will excel in this field as you do in every other area of human endevour. I would appreciate it if you did not continue to wind up those whom you have offended.
