How long has anyone else who's bought the Picturebook dvd had to wait?

I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD.

As always some of the effects look totally impossible. E.g. Forcing thought of cards etc. Very easy to watch... and nice to see he is not above schoolboy humour  .

I just got this DVD on Friday and think it is really nice and full of interesting ideas.

The "card under box" is a great routine for combining a number of moves and misdirection. I think I will work on that one as an exercise. It would work well at a restaurant table.

The 3-card routine is very good and full of building blocks for making your own routine. I might think about a modified version for a pair or single spec.

The out of this world is a good sneaky version that I will definately be giving a try. I must admit the shuffling and method went straight past me.

The Invisible Deal plot is an interesting idea. Now when I watch again, knowing the method, it actually looks too obvious to work, but I know when I first saw it I was impressed and puzzled by it. Its a routine that needs to be done at the right time and is all about presentation.

Extreme mental force just blew me away!! Very clever presentation. A good one to perform for magicians. Our knowledge of various techniques and moves makes you think of all sorts of possible methods, just not seeing the blindingly obvious !

All in all great stuff. Definately worth the money

Worst point is the sound on a couple of sections, laughs and screams are FAR too loud at a couple of points. Our cats freak out every time it booms from the TV

Why are all magic DVDs/Videos like this? Do the sound engineers not have a clue? or can't they afford a basic compressor/limiter? It's rare if a video is even produced to schoolboy standards from what I've seen.
It's unacceptable in this day and age. Anyone with limited training could produce better quality products than the trash which we are forced to bear.

You are right that it is very frustrating. You have the TV volume set to hear the patter which is far too loud when someone screams in disbelief.

My wife even shouted downstairs to check I was ok as she thought it was me yelling !

I have foudn this Dvd to be wonderful.
It has some great stuff especially on the psychological disc (vol 2) but for those of you considering buying it, make sure you have decent knowledge of card magic.

It's pretty advanced stuff, but if you give the tricks the time and practice they deserve, some pretty amazing magic can be performed.

UK = Pal. US = NTSC

However, a lot of UK dvd players will play ntsc discs, and do the scanrate conversion for your TV.

If your TV or DVD player allows it, switch the sound to monoural. It brings everything back to a similar level.

Derren is great! I watched his dvd and the most important thing that I learnt is that MORE than the sleights etc, it's all about the performance, keeping the others busy. I think that is something the newbies like myself often forget.
