Found this site after looking for "Dynamo's Estate of Mind". Saw the program, and like the noob I am, really enjoyed it. Hope to pick up some knowledge about magic as I would like to start off learning the basics. Cheers, and hope to chat more, Rees.

Hi mate, and welcome to TM

What sort of magic are you into?

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Well all pretty new to this, but what really impresses me is the close up "in your face" magic. Mainly slight of hand, using cards. Don't know many of the technical terms but I'm willing to learn.

P.S. Thanks to everyone for giving me all such a warm welcome! :)

reesphillips, Have a look through some of the recent posts about learning slights of hand and so on. many of them have very useful info in them and recomend DVDs and books. Two that are recomended alot are Royal Road To Card Magic and Born To Perform. Both DVDs are very good and teach the basic slights to more advanced slights. They also teach a range of tricks. Good luck

I quite liked the tricks. The presentation sucked really.

The bit that tickled me was the little boy sitting on the estate having been shown a trick, randomly saying "Have you had sex yet?" to Dynamo.

Cos I'm mature like that

How do Guvnor!!! Good to have you aboard...

If you're looking for a cheap and brilliant book to set you on the right magical path may I recommend Nicholas Eindhorn's Encyclopedia of Magic (aka The Art of magic and Sleight of Hand). There's a review on this thread:

http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic1578.php

And if you notice it's on offer at The Works at the moment (just £3.99)!
