I for one would not feel comfortable turning up to a local magic club on my own! if I already knew someone in such a club that would be ok, but I don't.

Has anyone ever just turned up to a club on there own?

I would! But I'd take my effects to show, otherwise there's bound to be someone who can do what I present far better than me :oops:

This is just what I did. I didn't know any magicians in my area, I got the details of my nearest club from Bananafish's list, phoned the secretary and went along to the next meeting.

I know it sounds daunting if you are a relative beginner but if other clubs are like mine you won't find a warmer welcome anywhere. Other members were pleased to have somebody new to use as a victim and the secretary had gone to the trouble of looking up my home phone number to stack a deck with the correct numbers for a reveal trick he did for me.

My advice is give it a go! (By the way I am a naturally shy person and so found it even more daunting but it was still ok)

The nearest Club to you is the the Home Counties Magic Society (it's in Reading!!!)

I might look into it a bit further, I know there is one quite close to me, and I think the owner of the magic shop Mandrake told me about might be a member, so first I might pay him a visit and ask some questions.
