JJ, I really think you're going to be disappointed with the Raven. It's a great tool for the pro with experience of handling gear like this but is not something anybody can just pick up and do miracles with. You will feel like you have wasted your money.

I first read 'Royal Road' over three decades ago and still use the principles I learnt there. I bought a Raven about seven years ago and have never used it once!

Do yourself a favour and listen to what the guys are telling you... start at the beginning and get a good book.

Ok it seems you are hell bent on getting the Raven, so as an owner of the device here is my advice to you:

In the UK it does look suspect using US currency as people are not used to seeing it.

In short NO you can not use a 10p unless you buy a special 10p from a magic shop that will cost about £10, I have purchased a special £1 for a cost of £12 it can get very expensive. You can however use 1p and 2p coins made after about 1998 (not exactly sure of the date)

Please wait and stop!!! before you buy this item go to Amazon and buy Bobo's book called "Modern Coin Magic" it will serve you far better than the Raven and give you a better understanding of coin magic.

The other members have already said this, and it realy is very good advice. As I said I own the Raven but I went and got the book and it will teach you very good coin slights and tricks. After you have learned some tricks from the book you probably wont want the Raven anyway!

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

You'd need to Google around for prices and comparisons - they change constantly.

People like this really annoy me.

JJ the thing that annoyed me was the fact that you seemingly ignored the advice that two very knowledgable people took the time to write for you, and not even a word of appreciation.

P.S. Yeah keep your comments in check, try not to write anything that could be classed as exposure ;-) :D.

P.P.S. Oh and if you want to know how to hand it out and let people examine it, then may I suggest a book? One by J.B. Bobo nonetheless, try his Modern Coin Magic. Of course if you don't want to read the book then you could always try the DVD version set.

Let me tell you a story JJ. Many years ago in America there was a young boy who loved the magic he saw at parties and on television. He purchased a book called the 'Royal Road to card magic' and The Bobo book. He spent many a day studying and practising this material. The young boy's name was LANCE BURTON. I think i have made my point. Thanks for the support all, it means a lot :D

Hey, I saw that pimple-faced hillbilly at Tombstone Junction when he was still working for minimum wage

There are few that "make it" that didn't EARN IT.

Siegfred & Roy used to sleep in an old stationwagon on the back end of the old MGM Grand Hotel-Casion parking lot with two cats, because they couldn't afford a home and half the time, they couldn't afford food for themselves. Sure, they were in a revue show in Vegas (making a whooping $700.00 a week for the two of them)... it took years of discipline, determination, and giving back to the community before they even thought they'd see the light of day.
'
Doug Henning was seen as a buck-toothed hippie that would get nowhere for years (but he impressed Vernon, almost from the start). Yet, Doug had his dark days as has Kevin James, Franz Harary and just about everyone else out there. WE ALL STARTED SOMEWHERE and a few of us (like yours truely) had to start over due to medical issues (brain damage and lost memories... I couldn't even remember effects I'd created)... what allowed me to not just bounce back but go beyond where I'd ever imagined possible was when Milt Larsen asked me to help out with a vandalism problem in the Magic Castle Library... that was the start of my real education in this business and it was coupled with a few other jobs working with the likes of Abb Dickson/Harry Blackstone and my mentor Kirk Kirkham... and I do mean WORK... long, grueling hours and serious back-breaking labor (in that big illusions are VERY heavy!)

If you really want to "make it" and not "fake it" JJ, stop looking for the easy way out or ways to be a show off and actually apply yourself in learning how to "perform" and more importantly KNOW YOUR ART.

Craig i am so happy! how nice it is to see two people who agree. All good magicians start at the bottom. I could take you on a spending spree now and spend thousands on lovely props and gadgets, but it does not work like that. Magic is about yourself as much as the tricks. You make the show special by adding your own personality.

yes! i love the joy of finding old magic books, effects that have been long forgotten, it is such a pleasure to track these down and read them. More people should try it!
