I agree completely. Remember, although you are a small part of the process  the bride is the most important person on the day therefore don't try to 'outdo' her, don't tread on her dress, don't upset her in any way, don't make any dodgy comments about her or her family etc.

I would say the only thing that would fit would be something to compliment her in some way...production of a rose to give to her would be perfect :D

I was in the unique position of making a Brother of the Bride speech a couple of years ago. Boy, that was weird... :?

Hi there everyone,

Many thanks for these excellent replies.

I've been giving it some thought, and I think that I'll take the advice of Kevin, Seige and so on... It's probably not the best time for magic.

Maybe I'll make a breif reference to magic in my speech somewhere (like Seige is planning to do) but I'll leave the magic to the magician I've booked (a friend from a local club).

Also just wanted to say how nice it's been to read such positive posts about getting married - it all helps to calm the nerves!

Thanks guys. With my new job, and 'doing-up' our house ready for the wedding, I haven't had many chances to actively post on this site lately, - so it's really nice to get such a good response, even when I've not been helping out others for what feels such a long time.

Cheers,

Good luck with wedding Seige!
