Twisting The Aces

Postby EckoZero » Aug 17th, '06, 07:09

Aha!

I got bored last night. So I made videos.

This is one of about 9... (yes I got VERY bored)

This is the fabulous twisting the aces. As invented by Mr Dai Vernon. As performed by me

Usual comments/constructive criticisms would be apreciated :D

[edit] After a tip off about a flash, I reshot and reposted. The link above is now the new video :) [/edit]

[edit2]I'll leave the original up for comparison, but here is the new improved EC handling! Please ignore the sugar-induced insanity :D

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

nicely done.

I do a bit of a different handling, but to each it's own.

Maybe I knew what I was looking for, but I believe on the second turn over, it really looked like a break where only one card was still face down.

Thank you!

Hmmm. I used the one described in the original trick. Only learnt it recently so I haven't had much chance to play around with handlings etc yet...

You mean the ace of clubs?
Yeah you can see the get ready. For some reason that one card just would not buckle... it ended up being a total hash although I think the actual turnover itself looked ok

Nice job. Your EC comes off as a bit suspect to me. I don't want to go into details here, so I'll pm you about it. Overall the effect was nicely done. Always a classic, and one that will serve you well forever.

Thank you :D

It's funny really. The EC is one of those things that no lay person ever picks up on even though to me it looks horrendous and to other mages it looks dodgy.

However, Demitris advice was invaluable, and now my EC doesn't look hugely suspicious even to me :D

Very nicely done. I've seen this trick done a ton of times and still have no idea how to do it. Your patter is really funny. I enjoyed that performance a lot.

Thanks,

Lozey - I got the Dragonforce shirt when I saw them live earlier this year. I'm gonna get a Sonic Firestorm one when I go see them in December

Andrew - Thanks! I thought "Hmmm. I look like a silly sod, but ah well... it's funny..."

pdjamez (sorry!!) - Will do! Just need to muster up some sugar energy (mmmm whole bag of skittles...) and then I'll reshoot with new cards and an improved EC :D
