I was going to say exactly the same as Taneous.
Show that the elastic bands have seperated a while after "the move" and to do the move whilst showing the "impossibility" of making them melt through each other.
I found you do have to control the elastic bands a little so they dont instantly flick apart after the move.
If you use patter, keep the patter going whilst you do the move and just before you show that they have parted.
Something i do - Keep "wriggling" (a
little) the elastic bands close together whilst they are "apparently" linked (just after the move)
That bit about "wriggling" may sound a load of gobble-dee-goop and rubbish but i know what i mean!
