Thanks for your comment Tomo. Your argument is much the same as Craig's, and Id agree if I was wearing any kind of costume, like the ear/elf example given previously. But how would you suggest I "...live the character..." if wearing a themed tie/belt etc. The only character your playing is yourself (as a magician). You can get some really flashy stuff out there if you just look.

as for the belt buckles and things, if you feel that way inclinded, fair enough - go for it...but..

how often do you see someone in a band with the word "singer" or "guitarist" on a t-shirt (except in a post-ironic way perhaps)...do you need to describe who it is you are?

i know its an easy identifier, but i personally feel you run the risk of it looking a little cheesey (but please dont take offense at that, its your choice ultimately...and everyone's style is different afterall)

i wonder how many people would wear a turban in a fakir style thesedays and do a mindreading set?

Fair point - good analogy, didn't consider it like that :D

Although I am a guitarist, and I have a belt buckle of my favourite guitar. Guess that makes me a little sad

in your avatar, you're wearing a smart tux looking get up...

stick to that, be elegant, be suave...

that would be a welcome change to a blaine-ite...

and women seem to like a fella in a suit...

and since switching to wearing a smart blazer, i found you open up a whole world of extra goodies...

more room for secret devices, sleeving, switching, ITR all far easier with a jacket on...

i know its not necessary with the right pocket management, but its far simplier...therefore you can relax more..the more you relax, the better off you are...

give it a go...

Yup. That's why I wear a suit to parties. Some of the "going out" suits in Next have amazing arrays of internal pockets.
