Need a big plug to prevent that 'flock of sparrows' from getting out! Good luck mate. You will be fine. Get into the flow of the performance and enjoy yourself. It will be over before you know it.

..well it was last night and all went rather good I thought. I went on stage and did 10 minutes in front of about 60-70 people and it went down a storm.

My set was:

Vanishing bandana
Balloon Swallow
Tic tac trick from Geek magic
Glass eating from Geek magic
Needle thru arm

Vanishing bandana went down a storm which is funny been as it was a "cool" crowd of musicians and the such like. I did have a volunteer from the audience for the tic tac trick who decided to be a git and tried to ruin things but I ignored him and soldiered on. The rest went great and got lots of laughs and even better lots of uuurrrgghhs from the grosser stuff.
It went down very well for my first ever stage gig. In between the bands I did some close up, Fibre optics, chop cup, chicago opener, electric touch with a derren brown mental card force, invisible palm etc. Was a bit difficult cause they was loud music but I struggled through.
Overall very successful and am not only pleased but even more hooked.

Again thanks for all the advice that has come from the marvellous people on here who as so willing to share from their differing levels of experience.

Long may talkmagic continue...

P.S my new signiture is going to be from Derren Browns new book and I think it is both apt and very true

"To pursue an interest in conjuring magic is to open the doors to obsession"

Well done that man!

Well, I learned something important at my gig on Saturday: If you have acne rosacea (blotchiness controlled by some goo the quack gives you), don't get into the swing of things by wearing ghoulish Halloween greasepaint. The skin on my top lip and up the sides of my nose is still red, itchy and flaky today!

That routine has a weird way of endearing itself to people. Even though we don't use the word' bandana' in the UK, most audiences seem to understand and enjoy it a lot. I've seen it done by comedians who have no magical skills whatsoever yet it always gets a load of laughs and genuine applause at the end. At this rate I might have to seriously consider buying the darned thing!

Anyway, congrats on the success of the gig, I can see your name being added to the Top Ten Magician's thread before too long  !

To be honest I was going to complain about that. I think it is very prejudiced to not take in to account my lack of media exposure, professional experience and the fact I have not, to this date, done anything to forward magic by innovation either in performance or within the techniques.

So yes I should be in the top ten in lieu of me maybe being the greates magician of all time based soley on my one stage performance, my future potential not to forgort my delusions of granduer
