Peacock (et al)

If you've seen the trick, albeit on a demo, and you have duplicated the method, used the patter or in any way made the trick your own from it then congratulations! This is what magicians should do in that we should make the trick ours and not parody another.

The sad side is that if you do this and deny the intellectual copyright aand the mind, skills and brain that the creator posseses and also advocate people not buying it then you're doing the hobby a little dis-service.

Legitimate reasons for telling people are that it is a shocker, is naff or the like. When the trick does the stuff albeit with tight angles (I learnt a snap change that was great in front of the camera and useless when real people were present) or only giving one outcome (found that with my torn and restorerd) or whatever has been vocalised here - you are choosing to be wrongly selective as a purchaser and diminidh the chance of the creator creator other trick.

Caveat Emptor is a great stance to take and this, coupled with using shops where you can be shown a trick and where the pros and cons are discussed (read Magicseen for such advicse is shops are too far away) and being a member of a club where the same can happen, is a great rememdy to this.

Have a happy new year one and all and please don't take this as a flamer but as a part of the progress along the magical world.

dizzydog, the guy in the link you posted cheated... he used 2x 10H's and simply didn't show the whole bag to begin with. this is NOT indecent.

most of you who dont own the DVD but have guessed the secret have gotten your ansers from Youtube and similar bad performances... not from Wayne Houchin's preview of it.

Indecent is an excellent trick, angles can be very well handled. "value" is not something that can be determined so simply Charles. it's value to you may differ to it's value to others.

Charles Calthrop wrote: Whether a magician can work out how it's done is neither here nor there. It is angly though and not very practical for most situations, and terrible value for money. But there's a market for it.

value can only be determined by 2 things:

(1) how much do you want it?
(2) how much benefit do you get from owning it?

NOT by simply "is one trick worth $25???"

I agree with Bobby cat. It was a force then the bag already had a duplicate so.... that's not the actual method to Indecent.

As far as utilising the possibilities of You Tube this kid manage to fool few of you. Another guy did something similar with coin through bottle. He infact managed to amaze quite a lot of people on TM by adding a few extra overclaims about his "invention".
Nice to see people who do not think inside the box utilising the posibilities of You Tube.

Here is a new effect by Criss Angel called "walking on water":

This is the most ground breaking the magic world have seen in the last 10 years. The shoes are quite expensive but can be got in a number of shops all over the world. They are worth their price.

Pay me £1000 and get the shoes!!

small print: When I recieve the money, I will post you a letter thanking you for the money and reminding you not to forget to buy the shoes.

Magic is slight of mind!

Agreed with the above, Youtube is fraught with 'magic' videos that are in reality no more than an arms race between those who want to dissect previews frame by frame for methods and those who want to fool them. That said there's also a load of talent and good stuff on there (anyone who's seen any of my videos knows that  ) but it really shouldn't be your first port of call for demonstrations of the latest E release.

The artist who does not rise, descends.
