On Thursday night, I spilt a cup of tea and a couple of splashes got onto No.1 laptop's keyboard. A tiny trickle must have gotten between the keys because now the escape, 1, w, e and left shift key are kaput. The Alt key presses itself at random intervals too, making the damned thing completely unuseable. I'm having to get a new machine (I hadn't planned to do so until the xmas sales).

I'm having to work directly on my creaky old file server while I figure out how to extract all my work from the dead laptop (which, of coourse, only has a mouse input on the back and I have no USB keyboard), and I'm typing this on an old Linux laptop with a dodgy shift and space keys, and no down arrow - all thanks to a glass of red wine. I'm never getting another bloody laptop, that's for sure. A slight splash on the keyboard and its all over.

I bought The Simpsons season 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 from amazon.co.uk in July and only had chance to watch them now and I'm sitting down to watch disc 2 of the Simpsons season 4 and as soon as I click on the first episode it freezes on the warning screen and starts making a funny noise (and I don't mean funny ha ha) and its too late to send it back and get a replacement.
It only cost £18 but I'm still pi**ed off about it. Guess this will teach me to buy one at a time in future. I thought it was the dvd player on my pc cause that skips when you pause it which I'm not happy about either (its powerdvd5) but it plays other dvds fine.
I should really refuse to use amazon from now on but its better than having to go into town to buy books, dvds, etc. And the worst thing? they don't even allow you any direct communication with them its all automated c*** (not the best) which makes things nice and easy for them argh.

It's not too late to send it back! It is my understanding that a faulty product can be returned at any point by law. So email Amazon and tell them about it - they should give a full refund or replacement. So give it a go!

You have the right to return a faulty item within a reasonable period of time.

I don't think 4 months is a reasonable amount of time plus you can't really email them its all done through their site which is frustrating. Argh!

EDIT: I just found a way to email them through their site

Maybe but if it works in your dvd player then it isn't faulty...... try going to a different title... it may work then.

Jordan, I feel your pain...

My mates and I used to sit around in the pub most of the night, playing "who's younger sister is the worst", it went something like this:

Mate 1: "I can't believe it, my sister is such a tart, she's only just finished with one boyfriend, now she's got another."
Mate 2: "Well, at least your sister isn't going out with a 24 year old graduate like mine!"
Mate 3: "Well, at least your sister isn't going out with a 15 year old delinquent who already has a kid!!!"
Mate 4: "At least your sister isn't a butch lesbian..."

Mates 1,2 and 3 in chorus: "You win!"

Luckily I think most of them have evened out now. Don't sweat it. :)

Oh, and MOOOooaaAAN - because having got loads of cool new stuff for my computer, it decided to start freezing randomly. I uninstalled, system restored, worm-deleted etc until the cows came home, no good, finally formatted and reinstalled Windows.

Which, you know, is a bit of effort, but I've got a portable hard-drive, I can cope.

Only, it still freezes up  Obviously a hardware issue, so I have to take it in to the computer men who will finish it in - ooh, a couple of weeks, probably - just when I need to do a lot of coursework. Grr.

Now, that's a moan right there. The Bonzos without Viv? Gah! Unthinkable.

:) Perhaps true, but being the tender age I am, I never had the opportunity to see the true line-up live! It certainly felt like a different show to what I would expect of the original performances - after all, some of them are in their 70s! - it felt more like a Bonzo Dog Band tribute, by (most of) the Bonzos, plus guests Adrian Edmonson who is a fantastic performer in his own right and IMHO the best stand-in for Viv you're going to get, and also Phil Jupitus, who sang fairly badly, forgot the words, was the only one all night as I recall to lower the tone with significantly crude language and generally proved that he was there for celeb-factor and little more...

An enjoyable evening, my main moans were the absence of Ali Baba's Camel *and* Hunting Tigers (two of my favourite songs) and the fact that the audience were really tame - not much heckling/banter/dressing up/singing along.

I don't know why although I can suspect what it is but my computer keeps randomly turning itself off!! It's a power issue somewhere but could also be the ram cos it's overclocked and the ram I have isn't compatible really with my board. But because I don't have any cash at mo I can't buy the ram to find out for sure as the ram required is about a 100 quid at the stupid christmas time prices!! It could be the mobo as it got dropped when I first got it but I won't know til I test ram and it's frustrating me so I want to moan

Perhaps the CPU temp is getting too high. My computer used to turn itself off and I realised I had set a temperature at which it turns itself off (It was actually quite high and I ended up buying a nify heatsink).

It's not that.... I have a vapochill heatsink on it and cpu gets no hotter than 34 degrees on load so one thing I know for sure it isnt is the cpu..... it shouldnt be the power supply either as that is only 3 or 4 months old and is a very good and reliable make.

It's most likely the ram because it was happening before and when I swapped them around it stopped happening for ages and has only started again in the last week.

Well, Ive just ordered a super-whizzy new home entertainment PC thingy with a bucket of memory, a 3GHz wossname, one of those 128Mb doodahs, and 60 GB of diddly-do. Delivery Friday. The moan is that I now have to work my rocks off to pay for it, and I've still got to find a way of decanting my dead laptop onto it.
