Magic dreams?

Postby Mahoney » Nov 14th, '06, 14:28

I've been finding myself deaming about magic quite a bit recently or at least things to do with magic.

Last night I dreamt I was buying a sandwich, and as I was lookng over the available fillings (trying to find one with no mayo!) I came across the some 'magic' sandwiches. They had exciting new packaging and came with such names as the 'Svengali sandwich', 'invisible sandwich', 'stripper sandwich' and various others. I picked up the svengali sandwich and I remember being amazed at how it looked so much like a regular ham sandwich! I my dream, I was stood there in this shop trying to comprehend how a ham sandwich could be used in this magical way. In the end I decided to go with the sandwich I always go with - those new magic ones looked too risky.

There is usually a little magic touch to my dreams these days, is this a sign that I thinking about magic too much? Have you had any funny magic related dreams?

I had a magic dream recently too! Can't remember it exactly, but it involved Christian Bale (presumably in anticipation of The Prestige - that, or I've got some seriously suppressed issues... :P ), and some kind of giant brass cylinder with secret pockets hidden in it. I don't remember much more, but it was a great dream, because I felt like a really good, well respected magician :)

On a tenuously related note, have you heard that Half Man Half Biscuit song, something like:

"Your weird dreams don't impress in any way
In dreams, weird things are mundane and everyday
Strange to me would be... buying a loaf, and coming straight home..."

I dream about magic a lot.

I dreamt of loading a pint of guinness into the cups during my cups and balls routine so I could have a drink when i was done.

Other than that, I have loads of actual workable ideas that i get from dreams :?
Every now and then I'll do a trick in my dream, or have a certain presentation, and then swipe it and use it in real life :D

Me too. Its kind of inevitable that when you do something or think about something a lot its going to start creeping into your subconscience

I don't dream about magic but I do think about it quite often when I'm trying to get to sleep. What I tend to do is to visualise in detail me performing a particular trick.

I don't know if anyone else finds that this helps when you're perfoming it for real as you've already performed it hundreds of times in front of an audience of strangers

I just think about the twenty-one card trick when I can't sleep .

Hmm interesting topic, I don't recall having any...but yeah, when you are so acquainted with something like this it's likely that it'll get incorporated into your dreams.

I find that whatever I'm doing lots of at the time always sneaks into my dreams.

When I was playing Silent Hill 2 religously, I fund myself dreaming about Silent Hill. And Resident Evil 4 was the same. I often dream about magic, and if I get really involved in a book I find myself dreaming about that too.

And bizzarely, sometimes I'll just dream of fears which I don't have.

Example: I am not scared of spiders. However, every now and then I'll dream that I am  weird...

Hehe. You know if you read about dreaming about something a lot, you are more likely to dream of it. So if you read this thread a few more times you might get 'lucky' and have a dream about magic...

...or possibly sanwiches.

When I can't sleep, I try to see my routines from the spectator's angle. Next thing I know, it's Selina Scott and I locked in another night of rampant passion... then I wake up... again

A while back, i had a dream where i was doing a card trick, and the cards turned transparent, and it ruined the trick as the spec could see that their card was on top. I woke up thinking how cool (yet impractical) it would be to have a see-though deck of bikes. Then weeks later, i see them available to buy!!! I rejoiced!!.....but didn't buy any.

Maybe you could do a trick with them in a pool or underwater......hmmmm

What a game indeed!!

Resident Evil 2 will always be my favourite, but resident Evil 4 fast overtook the rest to become my second favourite Resi Evil game.

The worst? Code Veronica: X

Absolutely brilliant premise, and superb in everything other than the actually impossible leraning curve. Starts off easy then Tyrant shows up once and BAM, the game's impossible...

Resident Evil 4 is my favourite game on the gamecube. I almost completed it as well but then I got stuck. I was pretty excited to hear that on the next Nintendo console they're going to release a resident evil game thats a collaboration (sp?) between all the games except code veronica.
Anyway back to dreams I find myself dreaming about snakes alot due to that movie "Snakes on a Plane"

I dreamt last night that Jay Sankey was watching me perform some new tricks I've got down lately. Unfortunately I was mucking up quite badly and making a right fool out of myself

When I was a teenager i curied favour with my first serious girlfriend's mum by "interpreting" her dreams for her and her friends. I just made it up, but I quickly learned the power of belief!

There's a very good book on dreams and how to interpret them (and no, it wasn't written by Freud) by the name of "Dreaming Reality"...it's more about why we dream and in that there are some ways of interpreting them.
