no not if your a serious magician who understands that to be able to do a trick u have to put in effort time and energy. mostly it was to the neebies who are invading the board expecting to do a trick in 5 min. i understand that certain tricks aren't for everyone and if you have put serious energy into watching the dvd decided that it isn't for you then thats fine i can totally relate to that. if u've watched the dvd and thought i can't be bothered putting the energy into the trick it isn't worth it then i think you're in the wrong hobby.

No Rvoice what I meant was I agree with Figo but you have been joined over a year and dont come across as being in the ''i don't want to practice for more than 5 minutes" crowd''

And just saying that if you feel that this effect is too difficult itjustmeans you need more practice.. when you saw Daniel Garcia perform didnt it look perfect?? If you saw me perform this you would see nothing but what is apparantly happening.

One last thing, yeah.. havign the audience behind you is proabably not the best angle for torn :P

Actually i think you should read my ideas of on over practice to give you more of an idea how to practice. www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic15488.php All though some times theres things we just cant do smoothly.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

I love bangin my drum

Yes I agree with you, I dont practice one sleight for 2 weeks on end. I learn a sleight, the mechanics of it, practice it a few times till my mind remembers how to do it, then I incorporate the sleight into tricks using that sleight till I do it well, without thinking about it.

I certainly didnt practice the 'prep' for torn.. maybe twice!! I practiced teh effect till i had it down.. then this is one of the few tricks I actually practiced in a mirror. I practiced till I knew the angles specs could be at a glance..

And back to blatancy.. if a speccy tries to mucsle in to close or at a bad angle.. I tell him '' No.. you need to be there to see what is going to happen ''. They never argue and if they tried Id beat em with a stick..

Ooohh mentioning sticks.. I accidentally cut my workmates head open with a pool cue on Thursday!!! That wasnt pretty.. but he was so concussed I convinced him it was an accident.. which it was ... erm.. obviously!! The managers just leaughed when he told them anyhow.. then they sent him to first aid to get his head bandaged

I.D i totally agree with you i have just bought this trick and i am stunned with how good it is. however i think we might be fighting a losing battle with the "i don't want to practice for more than 5 minutes" crowd. fortunately for us we will have a killer effect that we will be able to fit into a routine that will blow people away. all the others can continue to be Blaine wannabes. plus if you look closely you'll see that most if not all of the decenting voices are from members with less than 25 posts says a lot about their experience and knowledge i feel. guys sorry if you feel that magic tricks are too difficult to spend more than 5 minutes practicing maybe you should find a different hobbey and stop wasting yours and our time.

You don't have to be so abusive to people who critique tricks you like.

i wasn't being abusive. i was stating a point of view which a lot of magicians share with me, that there are too many people calling themselves magicians who can't be bothered learning the basics and think that if a trick requires more than 5 minutes practice then it isn't worth doing. if you had looked at a later post i said that if you share a different opinion to me then thats fine not everyone likes the same kind of tricks.
