Yep, with only one letter changed. I don't intend on being a one-hit wonder though...[/quote]

Too right... it's a total lifechanging experience when you realise how bad you must have smelled, and how nice it is to be able to have £5 per-day extra in your pocket, and aside from anything else, you stand more chance of living long enough to see your kids get married.

I think there will be a great market for unlit cigrarettes which appear to smoke after the ban.

"No, landlord, see, it's completely unlit. It's my finger smoking. No, it's your finger."

Personally, I think this 'nanny state' has made a damn fine move in purging the ignorant smoker from all public places. You wanna kill yourself, ill front the bills to put you on stage and you can play russian roulette, just like Mr Brown. Ill even thrown in a fully loaded gun, just don't take me with you!

Anywho, as seige said the ability to pull out cigarettes and not being able to light them opens up an immediate availability for patter

Ive had my rant....Damn smokers.

What the hell is the deal with smoker bashing?

£9 billion a year from smokers in revenue? Treating smokers on the NHS cost's £1.5 billion a year, which is a lot yes but I think we're entitled to it.

Ok, so we might all smell horrendously bad and be evil people but nicotine is a drug and we are addicted. We don't smoke because we enjoy being the scum of the earth.

So, a question to all smoker bashers - how much do you want your incme tax and every other stealth tax to go up because the county has lost £9billion a year because they all got fed up of being chastised for being addicted to something?
Will the increase in tax please you all?

I doubt that.

Apologies for going off topic but treating smokers like the scum of the erth because they happen to be addicted a socially unacceptable drug is one of my pet hates

Just my opinion. My Grandma died because of lung cancer, and my grandad died of cancer basically because he was exposed to smoke most of his life.

The ban is not on smoking EckoZero. The ban is on smoke itself.

No ones stopping you from smoking in a place where your damaging yourself only on private property, unless of course you smoke at home with loved ones or friends. Many people will be quitting with the go smoke free campaign the HNS are now running, but the majority will carry on puffing away furiously.

I'm not an ignorant smoker. I smoke away from people and I always go outside if I'm at someones house even if they're a smoker or say I can smoke out the window, in the kitchen or in the conseratory alread.
I get cheesed off when people sit down where I'm smoking away from other people and start coughing in my direction as if I should move from a spot I've already clearly exhiited is going to have cigarette smoke in it.

Who's more ignorant then?

And "damn smokers" is not a comment on smoke.

I appreciate it's not the nicest habit in the world, but that doesn't mean that people can go off on one.

I apologise for sounding tetchy but my comments stand.

Sorry about that. That comment I made came across more as an attack - it was meant more in jest but the issue does severly annoy me. I can undestand how you and others feel condemned as a smoker, but I do think its justified.

I think anyone in a public place either out shopping or sitting on a park bench (even if they decide to sit next to you as a smoker) should be able to go about their business without the fear for their health that smoking brings about. Just my opinion.

But however you feel, smoking is going to become harder for you. Seriously consider giving up - this numbers really useful 08001690169 if you need any advice on stopping or about the restirctions coming into place. Im doing some work for the 'get unhooked' campaign temping as an advisor and its really helpful.

Sorry for going so badly off track. Who'd have thought this was a magic forum?!?! A
