My admission ticket to International Magic Convention in London, last November. There I met a few of the TM members and members to be, met and talked to Derren Brown, Ali Bongo, James Brown, Michael Vincent and the very funny and talented Mike Caveney.

not very new but I bought Holey Moley a few months ago as I thought it might be a nice mid-routine break from cards or rope magic and even though it is a simple idea the reaction I get are great and it takes up so little pocket space that it is now a bit of a regular of mine.

Woah, hard to say. But if I had to choose one...

The Busch Factor by Richard Busch.

I say this as it has generated the most ideas and creativity. I think it will influence me more for the future, rather than most of what I have bought this year.

it has to be the £5 i spent buying a contact ball, for cost to use/entertainment value i've never had such a good buy!
other than that.... those see-through plastic USPCC cards, they made club work a lot nicer, since i no longer have the fear of getting drink all over them, which happens a lot more than you'd think!

Custom R&S decks made to specification - PM me for details

Extremely dificult question, partly because I looked through my purchases and realised that I buy far too much stuff and use too little of it.
Somehow I don't think I'm alone in that conclusion.

Anyhow it would have to be Absolute Magic and Pure Effect.

Without a doubt it's "The Devil's Picture Book" - absolutely awesome. Nothing else I've bought this year comes close really.

Jay Sankeys Earplugs.

Obviously not the one's he uses when he's sleeping on planes and the like.

Lemme rephrase:

Jay Sankey's Earplugs. That works.
Only because it helped me move out of card magic, and into coin magic, as well as having a good fun routine and sleights and ideas to boot!

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

What is the absolute best (magic related) thing you've bought this year and why?

I completely agree!! For me Mickeys Silvers Coin magic was out of this
world! And of items I would say the DVD "Fancy a pot of Jam?" by James Brown come out top.

Excellent DVD full of entertaining material recorded with real spectators (not the usual staged recordings from the magic castle).

Magic is slight of mind!

Sorry Charles, can't narrow it down completely, however...

Book - Has to be Art of Astonishment, they've given me so much to play with.

DVD - Probably Another pot of Jam for me also although I'm torn between that and Devil's picture book

Thing/gimmick (thingmick?) - Third degree Burn.

Miscellaneous - Bikes bikes and more bikes
8)

I'd better stop now, I've been indecisive enough.
Or have I?

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

Books - Art of Astonishment parts 1-3. It's great stuff, and every bit as engaging and funny as it is ingenious.

Bought effect - Harry Potter Book Test (Thanks Tom!). This is devilishly clever. I might change my mind to Outlaw's Kioku by the end of the year - I've yet to pluck up the confidence to perform that one yet, although I love the method to bits!
