Now appologies to all you chocoholics out there because this really isn't going to help you. But I bought some of those Smarties Mini Eggs at lunch time, reduced in Tesco's.

Very very yummy :D

[quote="magicdiscoman"]put an elastic band around your wrist and everytime you eat a bar of chocolate give yourself a big twang per bar.
its a pavlos dog way of training you to resist the urge for chocolate which is a drug designed to give you pleasure, it takes time but slowly weenes you off the drug of choice.quote]

I don't mean to diss your psychological methods, but you have made a crucial error. Pavlov rang the bell for his dog, before he gave him the food. Stimuli before "drug". My suggestion would be to snap the rubber band on your wrist whenever you get the urge to eat chocolate. Otherwise, you'll probably just end up with a big a** and a sore wrist.

Thats ok mate.. a wise man told me that vast amounts of caffeine break down the cholestorol levels in eggs and the fat content of bacon cant withstand the calcium in milk so milky coffe washing down bacon and egg sandwiches is perfectly healthy :D

I treat myself to some of them aslo. Absoloutley gorgeous. The hard crispy shell exagerated by the soft, smooth and silky milk chocolate within.

OH sorry, but they are rather nice 8)

For the record, the rubber band suggestion is an example of Operant Conditioning as opposed to Pavlovian Conditioning .

I love chocolate too. Crave it sometimes - but man alive, 36 Mars bars?! 40 Fudge bars?! Now that is a lot!

Actually, if you want a really nice Fudge bar try the Vanilla Fudge one from M&S :D.

Good call. Isn't the difference that Pavalovian is a + response and Operant is a -?

Operant Conditioning makes use of the results of an action to either increase or reduce the likelihood of that action being repeated - with the chocolate bar example the result of eating the chocolate is pain, so according to OC over time the likelihood of it being repeated is less; it's an example of negative reinforcement.

Pavlovian Conditioning associates a reflex response to an unconditioned stimulus with a neutral stimulus; the association between the two is built up over time such that the NS becomes a CS and produces a Conditioned Response.

:D

EDIT: Pavlov used Pavlovian or "Classical" (or respondent) conditioning; it is different from Operant Conditioning.

i meerly mentioned pavlof as something off the top of my head to meen a conditioned response.
ie the pain stimulus associated with the pleasure response of the chocolate combined with the intentional infliction of pain renforces the desire to cut down the consumption.

no idea what the pscological dodads are i only know that it works and remember that this is only stage one were your reminding yourself you are doing something you don't realy want to do to excess.

stage two after a few weeks would be to aply the stimulus to the craving but we are not there yet, i bow to thoughs more qualified than me and meerly state try it if its works for you great if not the worst you'll end up is a fetish for rubber and inflicting pain on yourself, perfectly healthy and wholesome.
