ps. anyone seen bridge to terabithia (sp?) yet, would like to know if its as good as it looks. looks a bit like pan's labyrinth.

Well, all I will say about S3 is that I was dearly disappointed.

If it hadn't have been for some 'passable' CGI effects, then I would have rated this a total turkey.

Saw it with nephew and wife, and all I can say is the tortillas I had at the start were a lot more interesting.

The story was... well, there wasn't one... it was a bit of a 'tying up loose ends' effort. Far too many plotline holes in existence.

Now... I know it was intended to be a 'comic' book movie which is brought to real life. But some things work in comics much better than they do on the big screen. Forgoing the laws of physics, the realms of rationality and the caverns of charisma, what you're left with here is something which could have been a really great adult/children hybrid adventure—i.e. it appeals to adults and kids, a-la Pirates of the Carribean—but sadly I think that the filmmakers had no idea at any point of who their target audience would be.

Without the fact we'd promised my nephew that we'd take him along, we'd have not bothered—or at the most, we'd have waited till it came to Sky TV.

After watching the first two movies (begrudgingly) I was quite shocked at how well they were done, and I was kind of looking forward to S3.

Was it a kids film then? Well, pre-teens nephew thought the action was great, and he loved Venom. But even he was disappointed at the end.

Mrs Seige was quite taken aback with the whole thing. She thought poor old Toby (Parker) looked about as sexy as a carpet burn when he was 'possessed'.

As I said, the CGI was passable—certainly nothing new or groundbreaking. Some very clever techniques were used, but the whole thing was very superficial and plastic, which also pretty much summed up the acting/character development.

All in all, I would suggest that if you are able to switch off your brain, skimp over plot holes, ignore continuity and vegetate for 2 + hours, then you may enjoy this.

But, if you like a film which is intellectually challenging and engaging, you may find this to be just a little TOO over-hyped, as I did.

If this movie has been hailed as one of this year's major releases, I am dreading what else there is to come.

I think we may just stay at home a bit more this year, with some nice wine and a good book.

(Blimey... I've only been married 6 months and I already sound like an old man)

i reckon they just over complicated it all..i was a big spidey fan as a youngster...collected alot of marvel comics...

green goblin's son should of become the Hobgoblin...and alot more psychopathic too...never really liked the green goblin much anyway...

venom..well, they miscast the guy for the film completely...and he's a poor actor too...could of just painted a face on a piece of cardboard and got a miner bird to say the lines...

they've nearly got it right, but so close, and yet so far...

the hulk was my favourite of all the marvel films so far...wish they'd do dr. strange...they ruined fantastic four big time...dispicable if you ask me...victor von doom...an american?! ye gods man...

i would love them to do The Inhumans though...and possibly Thor if they cast an unknown...or maybe Dolph Lungren after some acting lessons...

take a leaf out of batman begins and start again i reckon...i hated all the other batman films...he's really a film noire style detective eh...

and i never liked superman either...pffft...boring..

yes chryles i have and its good, last mimsy good, but has two drawbacks that arn't shown on the trailor.

1) two kids creat a fantasy world to recover from school problems, its not realy long enough in the fantasy world and fragmented.

2) one of the kids should have been in terabithia at the conclusion, you'l understand when you watch it.

its worth watching in the mindset of a kids film, flows well 1 above not withstanding and is enjoyable and not remotely disneyfied.
oh yea and the troll is inspired, fits in like a glove.

I have to echo many of the sentiments here concerning Spidey 3. Having one film to tie up all the loose ends created by the first two movies they would have struggled anyway without having to add two new villians and a new love interest too.
Even though the film is a 2 and half hour film the character development of the new characters within spidey 3 is virtually non existent and it suffered the same problems of X-3 (Another previous great franchise); a plot which is mearly there to get you from one action sequence to the next. The characters themselves in the comics have a rich history but this is all sacrificed to make sure the trilogy is wound up nice and neat.
Overall it certainly isnt the worst comic book conversion we have seen on film but it is the worst of the spidey trilogy. Saying all that though there is still a part of me that enjoyed huge parts of the film, the cheesy Dark Peter Parker Saturday Night fever skit and the fight with Venom to name a few.

and here's a plot spoiler for you if ever they do spidey 4...

in a fight between green goblin (dont ask how) and spidey, spidey accidently kills gwen stacey...and cant live with the guilt and gives it all up for a while...again!

goblin drops her from a great height (after parker starts going out with her) and he webs her, but the speed of the fall coupled by the sudden "yank" snaps her neck...

so there! and, if memory serves, spidey then kills the green goblin...

you can paypal me the £5 it would of cost you to go see the future film..
