I think you'd be surprised, magiccb, to find out how many of Derren's effects are accomplished through very physical methods, including "expensive gimmicks", rather than just psychology alone.

I know who it is! It's the spirit of Houdini come back from beyond the grave! Using the Internet as his medium, he is attempting to work out a decent routine for his comeback tour. After all, residing now "in spirit", escaping from handcuffs ain't gonna cut it with the ticket buying public. He needs a routine that's slightly more...metaphysical.

Well, we're ending the stairs right before a giant tub of ethanol. With any luck, the torch-bearer will trip right into the tub with the torch and light it. We may incinerate the torch-bearer, but he had a one-time job anyway.
