Another pet hate of mine - and it's again to do with the Americanisation of the English language - is the word 'shipping' when 'posting' is meant.

When you order something from a retailer in the same country as yourself, they don't 'ship' it you (where's the froggin' ship????) they post it to you.

I blame the internet for all this rotten language. The US rules cyberspace, so in the last fifteen years or so, in Britain, films have become 'movies' and putting something in the post is 'shipping'.
