Why would you buy a teacake that wasn't Tunnocks? It's in the name... Tunnock's teacake!
Having said that, I'm not particularly loyal to McVities for Jaffa cakes, because every other manufacturer seems to be able to give you more than a 2p sized blob of orangy stuff. Many others fully coat them. I love jaffa cakes but always feel that on the McVities ones there's not quite enough goo, rendering them ultimately dry.
If anyone goes to France (I presume they have them elsewhere too), look for Pim's jaffa cake style biscuits (cakes, whatever) - loads of goo, thick chocolate (thick enough to actually crack rather than looking like it's been painted on with a brush), and a variety of different flavours, including particularly delicious pear.
Oh, and for the record, most sickly biscuits = party rings. Or iced gems - I can make myself feel physically sick just thinking about those horrible things.
