Posh Biscuit Rip-off

Postby Tomo » Aug 6th, '07, 16:08

I've just been to Tesco's and thought I'd treat meself to a packet of posh biscuits. I decided on a packet of McVite's Moments: "A melt in the mouth Chocolate & Orange Flavour Viennese biscuit, dipped in smooth Belgian milk chocolate." Just the ticket. Or so I thought...

I've just opened them. £1.35 gets you just NINE biscuits, split into three compartments.

To add insult to empty wallet, there's easily space for another two biscuits in each compartment. It's a big box, too. I thought it'd have lots more in it.

Bah! Good job I bought some nice, honest chocolate fingers too.

yeah, its a thin line between love and cake isnt it...hmmmm...cake-love...

posh biscuits, they are both genius, and utterly shallow at the same time for the reasons you just gave...

chocolate fingers, or matchmakers...keep them away from me...oh go on then..just one or two packets...

if only someone would see sense and release a twix with raisins in it.. :x

Tesco's motto is 'Every little helps' and that's what you got for your money - little  !

Oooooh you little tease...

Well, just so you don't feel completely disgruntled, I bought us a box of those Cadbury 'Snaps' thingies t'other night, as we've been right off chocolate lately, I thought it would be a treat.

Anyhow... for some reason I had it in my head that they'd be Pringles-sized, and loaded to the gunnals with choccy goodness...

But they're bloomin dinky, and for just over a quid, you didn't get many in a box.

As you say, thank goodness for 'known' pleasures... for you, it was yer Cadburys Fingers... for me it was Beef Jerky! (Which, incidentally is also bloomin outrageously dear... £2 for what equates to the same amount of beef as 2 rashers of bacon)

I still think a Picnic bar is about as close to perfection as it gets. However, if you like peanuts, a Reese's Nutrageous takes some beating.

And another thing...

The Tesco's Express I used has replaced all the nice 10 items or less check out girls with some form of robotic do it yourself machines. A woman in a suit and name badge suggested I use one instead of cueing up. I explained that I'm a freelance and work alone, and come out to see actual human beings when my brain ceases up, but her look seemed to say she thought I was daft.

And the guy unloading his shopping trolley behind me was so fat, he had to rest his elbow on the side of the conveyor belt and catch his breath as he unloaded his trolley. Most of his stuff was cakes.

Any road up, these Moments are quite nice but I seriously don't think I'll be getting another packet. I'm used to getting about 30 chocolate digestives in a packet. These won't last the night!

Piggy wiggy woo.

Can I just interrupt with a tale I just recalled...

I remember once going and getting my fave 'cheapo valuepack' Bourbons from somewhere like Tescos, and accidentally dipping one in a cup-a-soup—which I instinctively thought was coffee.

Bourbons have never tasted the same since.

True. You never really taste the first five or six, though :D

Go on, how do you eat them? I nibble the edges off first.

I was car sick on one when I was a kid and have anchored (for all you NLP fans out there) the smell of pink chocolate to feeling ill ever since.
