Eraserhead and the Elephant Man are two of my favourite films and Lynch's best. Blue Velvet is great, but those two are so atmospheric.

Blue Velvet was spoiled for me by Hopper. I've never rated him as an actor.

No mention of Wild at Heart or Lost Highway? I would rate these at Lynch's best although Twin Peaks series one was great too.
I thought Mulholland Drive was was too formulaically Lynchy....if that's possible

As Hopper ruined BV for Seige, Nicholas Cage did the same to Wild At Heart for me. Awful "actor".

Twin Peaks was ok, but nothing compares to those two black and white classics.

Speaking of Nicholas Cage, I watched The Wicker Man the other day. Must be the worst film I have seen in recent times. It was absolutely laughable; indeed, at several points I actually laughed out loud. I didn't know it was a comedy, I thought The Wicker Man was supposed to be a horror film? The dialogue was so bad it was a joke and the acting was terrible. In fact, this film was so very bad I would recommend it for the comedy value - watch it for a good laugh.

There is no way any remake of The Wicker Man can be as good as the original - especially with the dark, sinister undertones, the eventual sense of helplessness at how everything has been guided and arranged and, of course, that Brit Ekland dance….. 8)

Agreed. Some films just should not be re-made, especially a classic like The Wicker Man. I don't see why they decided to remake it. If it ain't broke and all that.

I've never rated Hopper or Cage and they've both made some dreadful films.

Best film has to be Lord of the Rings.

I don't particularly like Hopper either but you have to rate him in that scene in True Romance with Christopher Walken. Classic.

BROTHER!

He knows, you know. Have you been stood standing there long? I said, be soon. What did I say. Be... soon...

You can't beat a bit of Baker. The last "Cynthia" she used on stage was actually... wait for it ...Matthew Kelly! Not a lot of people know that.

Anyone ever seen a French film called "The Green Ray"?

And Roger Moore also did a Cynthia for her at one time.

Oooh, new trivia!

Did you know that Ronnie Corbett was Danny La Rue's straight man? The difference in size between Ronnie Corbett and Danny La Rue in full sail is funny in itself. The act itself must have been an absolute scream!

If I remember right, Roger did it as a 'special' on a Command Performance or Royal Variety show - he was mightily embarrased!

Did you know that Sooty's creator, Harry Corbett, was Harry Ramsden's nephew and played to entertain the diners in his Guisely Fish and Chip shop?

Mandrake,

Did Ramsden's have a title of, "Sooty was battered here"

On the topic of Wicker Man, I couldn't imagine it without old Eddie ??
