Moodini, not sure if you're still having problems with the one handed crash link.
I was practising the move for several hours, driving both myself and my housemates crazy in the process.
I'm not sure how you hold it, but I don't cover it using my fingers, I just hold it near the bottom edge of my palm. It is angle proof, quite. I've performed like this for at least 20-30 times and no one has caught me out, yet. It's behind the magic bar anyway lol, but I am usually quite surrounded.
About the one-handed link, I found that holding the elbow at 90 degrees, and also the shoulder-rib part at 90 degrees help. Furthermore, when tossing the rings up, try tossing them up in a straight line, then move your hand slightly forward, to try and catch it too. It helps. I'm getting a 70% success rate at least on that. Not too bad but I really want to get it to 100%. Sheesh.
