Buster now that was a comic. I had a couple of the Buster Annuals. My step father use to collect comics actually DC ones, and I happen to have the Batman Judge Dread comic from the 1990s And a signed 1992 Judge Dread year book.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

You do realise that he was inspired by the DC Comics character Martian Manhunter, right?

The Vision was actually one of my favourite characters. I loved his powers and he was just that bit unusual, being an android. When I was five, I had an Avengers Annual, in which the Vision defeated Magneto. I got my Dad to draw a picture of the Vision, and took it to school with me.

What about Whizzer and Chips and Cheeky Weekly, the spin-off from Krazy (which I loved and had every issue of, bar the first couple)?

I remember when new comics used to come out all the time, and it was a bit of an event for kids to try and get hold of the first issue (I didn't have much luck, obviously, though I did have nos 1 and 2 of 2000 AD).

Of course, most of the comics sank or, more frequently 'merged' with others, so any really good stories could carry on.

The kids' comic market's sunk without trace these days. It's a shame, because they had some incredibly talented writers and artists working on them.

Some of you might find this link interesting:

In particular, check out 'Fleetway Street' at the bottom of the page.

Which one? There were three or four, I think. Judgement on Gotham?

And a signed 1992 Judge Dread year book.

Signed by Judge Dredd?

Back on topic, I think Heath Ledger's look is great in the trailer, but I'm not sure he's really got the voice or laugh quite right. I don't think there's only one 'Joker' voice, but there should be something of the clown about the character.

Even if it's a murderous, psychopathic clown.

Oh dear, oh dear. Real people just don't look like superheroes.

Absolutely. Marvel was way better in the 70s and 80s. DC had a bit of a resurgence recently, but now seem to be blowing their chances again.

Have you ever seen the TV version of Doctor Strange that was done about the same time as the Hulk series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno? The costume really wasn't how I imagined Stephen Strange's mystic garb.

Re: the Vision & Martian Manhunter.

I actually have a reprint of an old 1940's Marvel (or Timely as it was then) comic featuring a short Vision story. He wasn't an android but rather a strange guy affected by occult powers. That aside, he essentially looked the same, could walk through walls, read minds, was very "cold" and analytical etc.

Not sure if this pre-dates Martian Manhunter?

I'd never heard of the Timely character, but he's very like Martian Manhunter (and predates him). Whoever originally said the android Vision was a rip-off of MM was clearly wrong, and I fell for it like a rube (as I think our cousins across the pond say).

Thanks for expanding my comic geekery, MW.

Yeah, how weird is that? Hope it doesn't affect the release of the film - if that doesn't sound too cold!!

Very Sad.

Although I know Heath can act way better than the top guys in Hollywood, I was a little skeptical about him playing Joker.

I have to admit, it's hard to fit in Joker's shoes. All skepticism ended when I finally saw the trailer, he looks good at it.

Too bad this would be his last movie, unless they want to push thru the picture he is currently filming.

It's a damn shame such a star had to die. You would think Britney or something, but what the hey. I don't think Nolan is going to push back the release date because Heath already got all the filming done, but he might, you never know.
