There was a sleight rumbling at the Dini penthouse and the windchime was giving it large. Nothing like the a whole house going on the wonk then again I do live 5 floors up. But there was a little rumble.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

My wife was reading in bed at the time (I was at work) and thought we had burglars in the house. Then the whole bed shook for about ten seconds. She thought it was a ghost or something. I remember reading something about low frequency sound waves inducing feelings of unease and other ghostly feelings. Interesting stuff.

Well I managed to sleep right through the great storm of 87 (my neighbours huge tree blew down, fell through our concrete garage and landed a few feet short of my house) - so I'll be damned if I am going to let a little tremor wake me from my slumber.....

Well I didn't feel a thing in Barnet. And I was wide awake, sitting in my living room with my laptop in the silence and still nothing.
And, on a slightly related note, I didn't see the Eclipse last week either. Too much cloud in Barnet apparently.
I pay my council tax like everyone else! I'm gonna write to my MP.
Next earthquake is 2017 apparently.
I shan't be holding my breath.

Good point - who can we sue for the stress, anxiety and trauma caused to those of us who didn't feel the earth move last night  ?

I usually complain to my girlfriend about things like that.
Otherwise, try God

I awoke in terror at 1am to find the bedroom wardrobe walking across the room towards me and a low rumbling noise coming from the bowels of the earth. I honestly thought to myself "Oh no. I've been messing with the spirits too much and now they've come to wreak their terrible revenge!"

Then I went to the toilet and convinced myself that I'd dreamt it all, until my wife came staggering out onto the landing screaming "What is it? What is it? Is the house falling down?"

We stood on the landing shivering and mumbling "What was it? What was it?" We were too scared to go back to sleep until the sandman finally claimed us around 4am and we fell into a nightmare-filled slumber.

Make a drama out of a crisis? Us?

I thought that I heard the front door rattle at sometime around 2ish although I wasn't paying much attention to the time.

I was watching a DVD and put it down to the surround sound playing tricks on me. It only lasted around 3 or 4 seconds.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Hmm you saying that reminds me that my feet did feel a bit rumbly... I just assumed they were going dead from having my laptop on my legs but maybe that was all we got of the earthquake here.

But maybe it was just my laptop on my legs...

Absolutely nothing was felt over here in darkest, loneliest Welsh countryside. I woke to hear on radio 4 that the biggest earthquake for 24 years had struck. I was gutted to hear it hadn't affected us. None of my school-chums had felt anything either. Incidentally Seige, seeing as you live in my general direction, did you get a tremor?
