How much do you pay for a hair cut?

Postby Replicant » Mar 17th, '08, 16:43

And how often do you have it cut? I'm wondering how the cost of a gents hair cut varies across the country (or, indeed, the world).

I pay £8 (this includes a 50p tip - my generosity knows no bounds) every 4 weeks or so. I think this equates to about US$15.

Since I was 14 I've had my hair cut once. I had 9 inches cut off and I almost cried.

I think I paid about £18 for something that I didn't want in the first place

I can't remember the last time I had a hair cut because the prices here are so unbelievable. I use the old Vacum cleaner.

I enjoy telling people because they don't believe me but it honestly works and it looks like it was done by a pro...or people are just being very polite.

I pay up to £20, but that's for the privelige of having a homosexual man cut my hair while a 16 year old blonde chav girl serves me coffee.
Due to their sexist pricing scheme this costs me a 3rd of the price of a woman having exactly the same thing done. win!

Mine's £27 every 10 weeks and that includes a cold bottle of beer and a head massage from a 16 year old girl, oh and my hairdresser's quite fit too  and also a 'style director' whatever that means. I do make her work so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth and ask her not to use the clippers and do it by hand. I always perfer it when she does it by hand

Some of my friends go for the £8 - £10 'Barber Shop' option but that's just not for me.

£10-£12 mostly - that's with a student discount, it'd be £15-£16 otherwise.

I don't go to barbers, but I don't go to the super expensive "hair cuttery" type places either. There's a good range of gents hair dressers - stylish yet sensibly priced - up here in Leeds. What's better is they don't chat too much to you, they do it quickly, ask you exactly what you want and there isn't a girl in loopy earrings in sight. They're real men. Grr.

I'm due for a cut now actually. The girlfriend always says "not too short!" but did I get a say in the matter when she decided to trade in her lovely long locks for a bob?!

BTW, a complimentary cold beer would definitely increase the freqency of my appointments. Any magician-hairdressers take note :)

Many years ago, I used to pay £4. (I'd post a photo of me with a £4 hair cut, but I don't want to be banned without notice).

If I have my highlights done, it can cost anything between £22 and £75 if I feel like going to Saks.

Without colour its £8

£5 for a decent short back and sides and a chat with my favourite Sheffield based Iraqi barber. He's a damned decent chap and my hair cuts quite a dash at the regimental doo dah.

No "attractive young ladys massaging my head" included in the price though, although he does occassonally use a cut throat razor...

£10 for me about every 4 or 5 weeks. But that includes a lovely £1 tip. I think he owes me about 5 haircuts by now .

I wish barbers did shaves for little money. When I was in India I almost never shaved myself, every few days I'd just go to a hole-in-the-wall barbershop and pay all of 30p to have it done. So relaxing.

Of course, as the razor approaches your throat, you also get the tiny thrill of thinking "please Lord, not this time..."
